Surfing through WordPress themes I have learned that not every theme allows for the same size logo, nor does it automatically adjust the size of pictures. So, even if you have used a header, or logo on one Word Press theme, it may not work on another theme. And if you have finally found a theme you like, but keep getting the little blue box with the question mark every time you upload a picture, it can be extremely frustrating.
Pixlr.com is a free picture editing site which helps convert your pictures into headers, and is also good for resizing them to the proper specs needed for the individual themes.
1. Go to www.Pixlr.com
2. Click on "Open Pixlr Editor (Advanced)
3 The screen below will pop up. Click on the first image, "Create a new image"

This is a great tool and makes things pretty simple. When you are ready to take it to the next level and create some really awesome effects, GIMP is the way to go. It is basically a free version of Photoshop. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/best-easy-method-to-create-a-professional-looking-header-for-websites It does take some time to understand all of the nuances though.
