How does Netflix work?

There are 149 million different versions of Netflix. They select the images that you see based on your preferences. If you watch a lot of horror, they serve your horror images. But if you prefer to watch comedies, you will get more cheerful images. And so on. Everyone is presented with their own Netflix.

They know what content they should recommend to you and how they should do that to keep you interested. They immediately serve you the next episode, whether you have time or not. And seduce you to stay even longer.

You too can make use of this fact by placing images of other related information at the bottom of your post, which the reader of your current post might also find interesting.

Seduce or mislead?

Seducing visitors falls under the heading Persuasive design. By contrast, misleading visitors falls under Dark Patterns.

Dark Patterns are specially designed to mislead and manipulate people.These website designers deliberately fool you.

They use the laziness of humans. And they see the internet public as abunch of easy sheep. On these sites it is often extremely difficult to cancel your account that you ultimately decide: NEVER MIND. Making options untraceable is called a Dark Pattern.

Misleading text is called clickbait:

Everybody hates clickbait.

So be sure your headlines deliver what you promise.
