When I first started using the Native Shopping ads, I started using the Recommendation ads. Based on the configuration screen, I assumed that that they would allow me to set specific products to recommend, and that is how they worked, until recently.
Configuration:
Select the "Create Recommendation Ads" and you will receive a customization screen.
1. Enter a unique name for your ad, so you can find it again in the future with relative ease.
2. Tracking ID will be filled in by default if you have only one website associated with your Amazon Account, or you can customize your Tracking ID to something specific, if you so choose.
3. For ad format, I tend to stick with the grid, as it fits quite well in article content. List will display a list of product links, and strip tends to only list two products. You will receive a preview to the right of this form of what each one looks like.
4. Emphasize Categories will allow you to fine tune what categories to you would like Amazon to focus on when selecting products to display in the ads.
This section instead allows you to set a keyword default of products to display, should Amazon not be able to find products related to your sites content to display.
6. Under Advanced Settings there are a few options you need to be aware of:
a: Show Interest Based Ads - You will want to set this to no, otherwise your ad's will display products related to your visitors browsing history, which could result in ad's that are vastly different than what your site content is.
b: Ad Size - I prefer to set custom size, which gives you the option to select one or two rows. Otherwise the ad will attempt to resize itself to your page format, which can look a bit unsightly if not done correctly.
I have a question and a con to add, if you do not mind:
Question: say I configure an Amazon Native Custom Ads featuring 2 or more products, does it count as a single advertisement or as a multiple one? I am asking this in order to avoid being seen as a bridge site by Google.
Con: Prices do not match more often than not.
Having total control over products is great, but I have happened to advertise products costing 50 $, only to find out they were priced at 400$ or more.
My understanding is that Amazon does not pick the very same product that you intend to advertise, but the most expensive unit available.
Very many thanks in advance for your time and reply,
Ps.
On a separate note, the Site Stripe Custom Ads is off limits for me atm: I click on "Custom" and nothing happens.
It stopped working days ago, all of a sudden.
I contacted Amazon Support and they replied they reported the issue to their technical team. Nothing has changed so far.
I do use Ad Insterter as I love the control it gives me for placement and such.
Thanks again. This will definitely help people out when they go to deploy Amazon native ads in their site(s).
