Choose a Domain Name that Talks about Your Core Products

Let’s say your business is about graphics and design, and you want to choose between InfographicsTech.com and IraRetirement.com. Infographics talk about your core product while IraRetirement doesn’t.

Obviously, InfographicsTech.com follows one of the rules that I outlined earlier in this tutorial. Make it clear to your audience what your site is all about.

Avoid Trademarked Phrases

Yes, you could receive a cease-and-desist order from an attorney asking you to take down one of your websites. If it is a small site that had only been around for a while and wasn't making much money, it’s fine. However, in order to not learn the hard way, avoid trademarked phrases.

How to Brainstorm by Exploring a Powerful Domain Name Generator

Here are my Dos and Don'ts when choosing a domain name for a website. What if you're still not sure? What if you aren't able to just stare blankly at a screen and the perfect domain name appears magically?

There are several domain name generators out there that may help you get some ideas rolling. An example is LeanDomainSearch.com. It is as easy as typing a few words and it will pull up domains that are available to register.

Panabee.com is another domain name generator. Just type in a few words and it will give you a variety of options, some of which may not make sense. Another amazing domain name generator worth considering is InstantDomainSearch.com.

With a quick Google search, you can also find other Domain Name Generators.

Next, check the history of your new domain name.

Appreciate the informative post, Lily. I'm glad that you mentioned that '.com' isn't always necessary. I've purchased a couple of domains and had to settle for '.net' extensions in both cases.

I have been going around and around
trying to decide but I was worried about a
"dirty" domain!
Tank you and blessings to you

Absolutely, i will! I filled a notebook page
taking notes as I read. My biggest problem
right now is a great problem to have...lots of info to absorb and apply!

That's the only way to learn Stephen.
Keep in mind that you can start several websites here and this makes it possible to get started and then change directions when you learn more.

Beware of 'paralysis by analysis' it can sneak up on you and suddenly you are no further forward 6 months later.

You are looking for a niche that you can feel passionate about writing 3 articles a week for 12 months at least (or get a copywriter to write) and that will have good opportunities to sell products that you like. Either through Amazon or other affiliate links.

Hope this helps.
