We are all different and there isn't one perfect way to get high rankings within Wealthy Affiliate. But here's my daily routine (based on Kyle's recommendations) to remain an active and helpful member within the community!
If you spend quality time doing the following you will be rewarded as an active and helpful member on here!
PS : "quality time" does not equal "all your time" lol. I try to find the right balance between helping others and building my business. I usually start my day with the below 10 steps and spend the rest of my day working on my own business. You don't want to get too distracted and forget about your initial goals on here! =)
1) add new people to your circle
unless you prefer to add only the people you feel you can have a connection with. I personally add EVERYBODY that adds me because I'm curious and I think everybody has something to say and teach, so I don't want to spend too much time being picky about who I add lol... sometimes I do have a "crush" on someone and connect, definitely, but I just add anyone who will want me in their circle =)

2) welcome new premium members
that's actually the first thing I do while drinking my morning coffee lol. I check out the new premium members and leave them a welcome and congratulations message! I remember when people did that as I went premium and it felt awesome! Such a warm welcome and such encouraging words... It's a nice way to connect and meet new people

3) comment on money goals
same as 2). Sometimes I read very touching stories and spend more time writing an answer, sometimes I laugh my *** off at people's answer and connect with them and most of the time I just want to encourage them and boost them because that's what WA is all about, right? =)

4) leave comments on people's website
I can spend up to 2 hours leaving comments... I spend a while looking at the website, getting a grasp of who the person is, and then I try and find an article that I can relate to or that I know absolutely nothing about lol... so that I'm sure I have something interesting to say about! As you leave comments you'll get comments back, which will do good to your rankings on search engines! =)

5) answer unanswered questions
that's one of my favorite things to do especially when I'm the first one to answer someone's question ahahaha I sound like a megalomaniac O.O lol.

6) work on your website
well duh! Unless you don't have a website yet and just want to contribute to adding new trainings, asking questions and chating =)

7) post a blog
blogs are fun, they are small slices of life. You can blog about your successes on here, your failures, your fears or goals, your joys and experiences... And people will connect with you, cheer you up, encourage you, challenge you... and more!

8) ask questions
I ask a lot of questions. I hate feeling frustrated and stuck and I know there'll always be someone on here ready to help! So always ask questions ! =)

9) create training (if you have at least been a premium for 3 months)
creating training is a great way to climb up the rankings and even earn money ! You need to feel confident enough (or reckless, like me ahah) to put yourself out there! But usually people are very nice to you lol

10) use the live chat
beware, I've seen people go to rehab after using the live chat! lol. Just kidding. I pop in there once or twice a day but usually because I see the green "1 needs help" lol... I just rush in there like superman and see what I can do lol.

I have been close, over the years with high rankings but it isn't as important as helping others and yourself become a success. So basically, I am trying to say there must be a balance. If you spend every second on here doing every step you mention how will you ever succeed with your own sites and business? As I have noticed over the years, only a few people at that high level of ambassadorship have made a full time income. Why, because they are too busy watching chat, etc they are getting distracted.
If you have a real online business then you know it takes a lot of time out of your day to perform the duties you need to perform to be a success. So again, make sure you create a logical balance between here on WA and your own endeavors.
The 10 steps I mentioned don't take all my time though. I usually do all this in the morning and spend the rest of my day focusing on my website, which allows me to both help others and focus on my own business. And I definitely don't get too much into the chat room lol, because it's too easy to get distracted in there!
Some people will just want to work on their website, which is absolutely fine as well. We all have different goals.
Getting better rankings on here is by no means an obligation or a necessity to earn money, but it can be an asset to your business & allow you to earn more commissions through the WA program.
