Having A Plan To Achieve Your Goals
Here we are going to review how to set up a weekly plan that will help to keep you focused on achieving your goals.
Our plan will consist of the following categories:
- Training - What lessons or courses you want to complete.
- Site Work - What work you want to accomplish on your site(s).
- Social Media - What do you want to accomplish within Social Media Networks.
- WA Community - What do you want to accomplish within the Community at WA.
- Time Invested - How much time do you want spend working on your business.
- Bonus Items - List any items that would be a bonus if you were able to accomplish.
Keep It With You
Once you have your plan written or typed up, keep it with you at all times. This is your tool to keep you focused on what you need and want to do. Take notes on it as you complete tasks or when you come up with new ideas.
Check it frequently to make sure that you are staying on task. There is a big difference between working hard and working towards your goals. That is the whole reason I came up with this plan as I was spending too much time working hard, but not necessarily doing things that progressed me towards my goals.
Examples Of My Plan
Here is the first plan I created this year to get myself started off on the right path:
Here is what it looked like by the end of the week:
As you can see I took many notes throughout the week and tracked all of my progress. I also made notes of things that I wanted to include on the following week's plan as well. As the week was coming to a close, I went through and highlighted what still needed to be done.
Be Flexible
Another very important thing to remember here is to be flexible. There have been weeks where I was inspired to create a different post then what I had planned. In that case I was OK with that and just moved the previous post to the next week.
There have also been times where I did not complete the training I had wanted to, but I was able to replace that with other things that were able to progress me forward.
Just think of these like the Pirate's Code, there more just like Guidelines.
I'm a big fan of the S.M.A.R.T. method as well when it comes to setting goals and sticking to them. And I like that you included the need to write your goals down, keep them visible, and track them as you complete them. It was also great that you shared your weekly progress report too - especially the version with your hand-written notes. It shows you've been busy. :-)
All the best and keep up the great work!
