Though Pinterest is not as big in the European market with only 8% having active accounts and out of that only 3% are active users. ( sourced from Ahlogy) I still think it is worth considering to help grow your business.
- The half of a pin life is still 1.600 longer than a Facebook post
- Average person spends around 14.2 mins selecting and going through pins
- Fastest growing social media network
- No minimum budget for CPC (click per cost) pins though this service is very new and is only available in the USA there is also a waiting list
- To get the most out of pins you should be looking to have 200-300 characters on your posts/pins
- Remember to still make it SEO effective use keywords
- DO NOT USE SHORTLINKS they are seen as spam (only by Pinterest)
- Hashtags are not very effective either and if your using a mobile there is none present, they do not always get indexed and can even drive your traffic away
MOST POPULAR PINS AND CATEGORIES

I hope this has helped you understand Pinterest more and you can see how it can benefit your business, if you have any questions please ask or if you have experience with Pinterest good or bad let us know.
I found it difficult when I first joined Pinterest as I did not understand the concept now after months of just playing around with it I can see the potential it has.
I guess it is like many new thinks we have to master quite daunting at the onset and once we get our head round it the light comes on..

I have one question - when you say not to use shortlinks, are these seen as spam by Pinterest itself, or by Google etc when indexing them?
All the best, Mark
