When you have pending comments you will be notified by your WordPress site in several ways. If you have set up the Settings as discussed on Page 1 of this tutorial, you will get an email notifying you that you need to moderate a comment.
If you are in the editor, you will see a circle next to the comment menu item with a number indicating how many comments you have pending.
At the top of the page in the header is a comment icon with the number of pending comments.
If you have received a comment that is not grammatically correct or you wish to edit a comment for another reason, you can access the comment editor.
You will also go to this section when you wish to approve a comment.
The comment editor can be reached 2 ways.
- Click on the small comment box in the header of your WordPress Page.
- Click on Comments in the side menu.
Once inside the comment area, you can hover over the center section to display the editing tool menu.
Edit or Quick Edit will allow me to change the content of the comment and add or remove links as needed.
Use the Edit section if you wish to remove a URL linking to the commenter.
Lets add a link to a comment:
Enter the Comment Quick Edit
Highlight the text you wish to link.
Click onLink and add a link into the box that shows.
Note that when you click Add Link, the format of the link is added to the text in HTML. Don't worry, it will show as a text link in the comment.
Update the comment, then if not yet approved hover over the center section and click approve to allow the comment to go live.
