Hi Chris, that depends on if you have a childtheme or a parent theme, at a childtheme it will stay, as far as I know

Excellent. I need to investigate child themes, for this very purpose, but the child themes for my current theme are all "purchase". Possibly that's true of all themes, I guess.

You can create your own child themes Chris. I don't know how a theme could prevent that.
