You can place your categories in a very dominant place like this, at the head of your website;
This is with the drop down menu. When you click the drop down this is what you see.
Here is the default setting in the picture below;
The default setting always shows all of your categories.
So I guess you are wondering how do you add these to your website?

Just drag the widget up to your header banner, is that the question you are asking?

I notice you mentioned side categories but I am assuming you were meaning sub-categories? It's quite simple to do, go to the post that you want in a sub-category and add it by choosing the parent category and typing in your sub-category. Check the picture, I hope this was your question, if not, PM me if you like. You will see that I added Jim Cockrum as a Sub-Category to Reviews - On Marketers.
