Using #Hashtags

There are a few ways to search for #hashtags:

  1. Using the Google Plus Search box at the top of the page, type in a specific hashtag query, then search (hit return on your keyboard or press the blue magnifying glass icon).
  2. Just click on a hashtag in the post and that data will be loaded into the Google Plus Search box and the search will be started immediately.
It's a good habit to get into the practice of using these hashtags. For one, Google likes it when you 'go with their flow' and two, it will help your posts' ranking metric.

Isn't it a good idea being able to set these so-called keywords within your posts to help Google sort out the data efficiently and effectively?

Finding Your Posts Later

Another good reason for getting into this tagging habit is that you'll be able to retrieve all your posts on a particular #hashtag search query in one easy go. That's smart and sensible!

Searches can be refined at any time.

What You Have To Do

Making a hashtag is straight forward enough, it requires you to follow only two rules:

  1. Start the hashtag with the # symbol
  2. End the hashtag with the space ortab key
Your hashtag can be absolutely anything you want it to be. Just stick to the above rules and you'll be OK.

It cannot contain any spaces or other special characters, such as the+ or - characters. You'll know when you've done it correctly, as once you finish typing, it changes to blue text with an underline! When the focus is off your comment the #hashtags are black or a dark gray color!

I was always wondering how the hashtags are applied. The only ones I have were added by Google.
