WordPress Permalink Settings
In some situations, it may make sense to include the date in your URL, such as if you are a news website.
Your permalinks should not be set to the "Plain" setting, no matter how great your site may be. This setting is not good for SEO because it doesn't include any keywords.
Remember: Broken links will occur if you change your permalinks while your website is still live. You will need to redirect old links to your new permalink structure if you wish to modify the permalink structure of a website that is already live.
3. XML Sitemap
An XML sitemap acts as a road map to search engine robots. It's a list linking to all pages, posts, categories, and images on your site. It allows Google's crawlers to navigate your site and index all of your content.
There are many ways to create an XML sitemap, and then upload it to your website. A plugin such as All in One SEO is the best option. It will generate your sitemap automatically and upload it to your website without any additional work. You just need to choose from the available options and it will do the rest!
*Tip – click on All in One on the left side of your WordPress dashboard >> Click Sitemaps >> click on Open Site Maps. You will copy just the portion of the URL at the top after the slash (sitemap.xml) and paste this into the section for sitemaps in your Google Search Console for your website. You will need to do these regularly as you add new posts.
