My media library is getting quite extensive as I'm sure others are as well.
My question is when I upload an image to my media library, and that image is used in a blog post

Hi Holly,

It makes sense to keep the image since you're still using the content. That's what the media library is for.
Are you having a problem? If not, let it be.

Maxine :)

I agree with Phil here. All the best.

As Phil states, most sites have media libraries that will house images.

-Mike

Most of my websites have media libraries with many hundreds of images. This doesn't cause any problem. Any images that are used in pages or posts do need to be kept.

Make sure you are not using the images. I usually clean as I go along.

Yeah, it must stay if you use it in your content.

Once you have posted an image from your media library, onto or into your post, that image must stay there in your library.

Any other images in your media, if duplicate, can be removed.

You can always replace the image should you replace the wrong image.

Rudy

If you delete an image from media that is used on your site, that image will no longer be available for your site. There may however be many images that are not being used that can be removed from media library.

Media library: always keep images that have been "posted" or can I delete?

Email Marketing

For the autoresponder I just chose it's required to have a physical address.
I want to protect my privacy so What do you suggest to use as a physical address?
UPS box ren

Your current address or a hired physical service.

You are very well covered here, with some excellent advice and guidance. If you have any further questions, please let the community know!

-Mike

Hi Holly,

I mentioned recently to someone else, I recommend a registered agent. Most corporations use them for a physical address for legal purposes as one has to be on record.

Their purpose is to act as a physical address, and they will open your mail, scan it to you and then mail you the physical letter. Obviously that isn't likely with email, but satisfies the legal requirement and is much cheaper than a P.O. Box as you can find them as cheap as 49.00 a year.

Regards,

Jason

Hey Holly,

If you want to comply with the law, it is clearly stated that "you must include a physical/street address as part of your email content."

See screen print below...

Aweber offers advise on how to include a physical address in your emails
without revealing where you live: https://blog.aweber.com/learn/canspam-physical-address.htm

Hope you find this helpful.

All autoresponders ask for a physical address. It's an ICANN requirement as a protection against spam. You can use a P.O. Box or a fake address generated by free software. You don't need a separate address for each website.

Really?

Which part of the response are you querying, Abie? I do have around 30 websites, all connected to an autoresponder.

It's a membership site plugin I'm looking at using to be able to offer courses and other digital products on one of my websites. They have a free version and I want to see if

Sorry I’m late to the game here, but it certainly looks like you have great suggestions below — I hope you are (were) able to get this issue handled!

Or you may try LifterLMS

Does anyone use or have experience using the "paid memberships pro" plugin?

I created a website on 11 days ago and I'm consistently getting SPAM emails at an email address I DIDN'T create????

They're addressed to "email@" my new website name but

WP Armour
https://wordpress.org/plugins/honeypot/

Looks like some bots found my "Contact" page. I removed the submit form design of the page. And removed this page from my menu. I also put up a "404" block page for the url. #websitelife ;)

Looks like you are well covered here with some excellent insight and guidance.

Please let us know if you still have any questions.

This can happen with websites, as you can get spam associated with your website, and spam within the comments as well as you build out your websites. Were your other websites indexed and ranked, that is typically when you start to get this sort of traffic.

is your email scannable on your site - if so then it has been picked up by a bot and added to a list...or they are guessing your email address...
i don't understand how you are getting emails if you haven't created hte address... where are you receiving them...
akismet plugin may help or there are other plugins that get the bots to do something that isn't visible to humans...

Thanks Phill for the advice. I sent a WA Site Support ticket for this one.

I'm thinking this is probably it. I've spent years lurking a forum called Black Hat World and I've read many threads about what are called scraper programs whose purpose are to collect emails. Usually done in the content forums, but imagine some folks probably do this for newer websites as well.

Hi TG. I don't think it's that uncommon and often get it myself. To play safe run a security scan on your computer and change the password for your website.

Best,
Paul

Yeah, Paul, I hear you.
