As I have said in my profile I have had a belief for a long time that good passive income was possible using online methods. If there were apparently so many "Ebay Millionaires" then why couldn't I? I attempted to buy a movie phone from China thinking I could get it at wholesale and sell it online at a profit. This trying the waters was not a big success as it ended up costing me about the same price as I could buy it for via EBay. I decided there wasn't enough profit margin and put the idea away until I could find out more of the "how".

More recently advertisements started appearing on my Facebook page referring to Importing from China. I later discovered that this was because I had been doing searches on Google trying to learn more of the "how". I replied to one ad and put my email in what I later learnt was an autoresponder and was invited to a three hour seminar in Perth which I attended with my wife. We were given a broad outline of the process and invited to a "Boot Camp" in Sydney at a cost of A$5,000.

At the bootcamp We were given a more detailed two day program and asked if we wanted to "apply" to be accepted into a VIP mentor program at a BIG ticket price. I saw this as an investment in a future online business so applied and of course was accepted. While it cost a lot I learnt a lot about niche selection, how to source products at the best price setting up websites using WordPress and Shopify and how to go about importing container loads into Australia.

I am still in this business, while also running a business in the transport industry escorting oversize loads around the country having previously working as a teacher / administrator in the government school system.

I have also been involved in crowdfunding, internet marketing using Facebook. I have spent/wasted money investing in the range of programs that are launched periodically.

Of all I have seen and experienced over the last two to three years Wealthy Affiliate seems to have the most viable. It is certainly the simplest and inexpensive I have come across.

As I come to the end of my working life (I hope) I only need a relatively small addition to my self funded pension (I think 401K is the US equivalent). So in reality $5-10k per month would be sufficient. However I think if I get one site returning any significant return it will be a case of DO - RINSE - REPEAT.

I have learnt a lot over the last 10 years. Most of all that affiliate marketing is the process that provides the best return for the least effort and as Ian Pribyl said in his blog I am still working here but I am enjoying what I am doing so it is hardly "work".
