This Scammer Pretended To Be Jeff Bezos
Hello Everyone
I have another scam email to share with you all. A few days ago I received an email supposedly from Jeff Bezos saying he wanted to give me a large amount of money. I knew straight away it was fake and it was a ridiculous email which I think some of you here on WA might find interesting.
Let's take a look and break down the email.
The Beginning Of The Email
The first thing to note is the fake and gibberish email address that this email came from. This is a red flag as scam emails often come from fake email addresses like this one.
For anyone wondering what digimad.net is I have no idea. I checked out the website before I wrote this blog post as I was curious what kind of scam website it was. It is actually just some kind of WordPress webpage with a cartoon like image, title and sentence in another language. It just looks like some kind of junk or spam.
This is also another red flag as if it was really from Jeff Bezos there would be no spam email address or spam website associated with it. That's what was at the top of the email as shown in the screenshot above. Now let's get into the good stuff and see what the scammer said in the email.
The Claims Made In The Email
As you can the scammer is claiming he wants to give me $1.5 million to help me out because believes wealthy should be used to help people.
Here are the red flags in the first part of the email
1. There are spelling mistakes and grammar errors
2. Why would Jeff Bezos give $1.5 million dollars to a random stranger?
3. Claiming to be 100% legitimate is also suspicious due to the way the scammer said it and the nature of the email.
But the email doesn't end there and now let's look at the funny part that is ridiculous and had me laughing out loud.
The Funny Part Of The Email
As you can see the scammer has provided me with a link to a Wikipedia article about Jeff Bezos and this is supposed to prove he is legit and is really Jeff Bezos lol.
This is the funniest and most ridiculous thing a scammer has ever said to me in an email. A Wikipedia article does not prove the scammer is who he says he is it just tells us all about Jeff Bezos.
He has also provided me with his email address which I'm assuming is gmail account he set up in Jeff Bezos's name. Once again this proves nothing and doesn't mean the scammer is who he says he is.
It did nothing more than give me a good laugh. At this point we are almost at the end of the email. I'll show you the end of the email next so you can see how the scammer ended it.
The End Of The Email
As you can see the scammer ended the email by wanting a reply from to the email address he provided me and is still claiming to be Jeff Bezos.
The Purpose Of The Email
By now you know the email is fake, ridiculous and just a scammer telling a heap of lies hoping to get information out of me. The purpose of the email was to try to get a reply from by pretending to be someone famous and offering me a large amount of money.
If I replied to him the scammer would have then asked me for all of my information including bank account details so he could deposit the money into my bank account.
But in reality he is not Jeff Bezos and if I had of provided him with my information and bank account details he would have sent me any money he would have just taken all of my money from my bank account.
That's how this type of scam works to get information from the victim and then take their money instead of sending them money. This type of scam is common and not new but this was the first time I have ever gotten an email like this from a scammer pretending to be a famous person.
I did not reply to this email I just saved because I knew amount to share it to raise awareness of this type of scam but I have not heard from the scammer since or gotten any email like this since. If you ever get an email like this do not reply to it and never give the scammer any of your information. Just simply ignore and delete the email and then get on with your day.
Conclusion
In conclusion the email I received was not from Jeff Bezos and it was just scammer pretending to be him to get my information and take my money. The scammer is not going to give me or anyone else anyone he is just out to steal other people's money. If you ever get an email like this do not reply, do not give the scammer your information and ignore and delete the email.
That concludes this blog post about the scammer that pretended to be Jeff Bezos. I hope this helps someone. The purpose of this blog post was raise awareness of this type of scam and hopefully save someone from getting scammer. I know a lot people wouldn't fall for it but sadly a lot of people would fall for it especially the elderly and people who are new to email and the online world.
I hope you enjoyed this blog post. I know this different from what I usually post on my WA blog but I felt that this should be shared as it could save someone from being scammed. I will post something different soon and I have some more blog posts planned for my WA blog in the coming days about different topics. Thank you for reading and I look forward to hearing your thoughts in the comments.

Hi Timothy,
Meanwhile back at the Bezos mansion, Jeff is wringing his hands in confusion wondering why no one is taking his money. j/k
I also noticed he used the European comma instead of decimal point to separate dollars and cents initially then corrected it in the figure in parenthesis. Guessing the person scamming is in Europe and overlooked the initial blunder as it looked correct to him/her.
You seem to be a scammer magnet. I get my share, but usually either my accounts are on hold (usually with placed I never have had an account at) or I won a gift card.
Thanks for the share, it's interesting seeing what these folks do to try getting one over.
Regards,
Jason
Hello Jason
Thank you for reading and for your comment. Good catch on the European comma i didn't notice that but you're spot on. I'm not sure why I get so many scam emails.
I usually get a few each day and some people on WA get even more than me. I wish the scammers would give up and go an get a job if they want money but sadly the reality is there will always be scammers and they will never give up.
I'm glad you liked my blog post and found it interesting. Thank you again for reading and for your comment. All the best to your success.
