My Next Book and Saving Mini Orchids

Hi everyone,

In the past month or so, I have blogged here less. Have felt the need to spend quiet time alone.

Have produced less content for my websites. And yet, strangely enough, one of my brands is doing well even with fewer blog posts and videos. Reports from Google showed a rise in readership on this website. And viewership as well as subscribers have increased on that brand's channel.

Perhaps less is more?

Update: My Next Book

During the time I was less active on the Internet, I started on my next book. It's based on the past blog posts I have written over the last 30 years on my spiritual experiences: seeing energies, seeing spirits/guides, precognition, psychometry, astral travels, and more.

(Art by Copilot)

Have written the rough outline. Then wrote the Introduction and Chapter One. In the coming days, I decided to refine the outline before continuing with Chapter Two.

Saving Mini Orchids

A few of my mini orchids were not doing well.

The ones at the upper right and lower left had yellowed leaves. When I dug them out, in an attempt to save them, they fell apart.

Their roots had rotted. The damp state hinted to me that there had been too much water.

Thankfully, the mini orchid in the middle is doing all right.

You can see it's still strong. The stem and roots were all right.

The one on the left was the parent of all the other mini orchids in my garden. Thank goodness it is still strong and healthy. In fact, the mini orchid plant on the left side of it is one of its babies (baby orchids are called keikis). I am thankful that keiki is just as healthy as its parent.

I've done some research, and it seems that it is possible to save the keikis that were not doing well. As such, I have made an attempt to save them.

After breaking apart, there were some healthy leaves. Some said can try to repot them and they may grow roots. Then continue to grow shoots.

There were some stems with roots. From my research, some experienced orchid gardeners said these have a chance of reviving. Especially when the stem is still alive, and the roots are not dried but healthy. One of the stems even has green roots. That is a good sign. There is hope.

Now, the long wait to see if these can survive and regrow. The experienced gardeners said it will take weeks.

That's all right for me. I can wait. I will do my best to take care of them and help them survive and regrow.

In the meantime, I have this strong calling to focus more on my book. And I will do that.

I wish everyone success and good health.

Timotheus

Great to hear from you Tim and your update.

Orchids are lovely. They can be difficult to maintain and keep. We have three in the house which do well year after year. More by luck than anything I think as we are really not that green fingered and do quite well at killing off other plants.

All the best with your new book. Look forward to hearing your next update.

Take care
Tracy 😎

Thanks, Tracy :)

Growing plants is not easy. I can relate.
I had many that decided I was not caring for them enough and left.
Still, I do my best, research as much as possible, and get the right soil/potting mix, fertilizer, right amount of watering, etc.
And the rest of the 90% is prayers. :D

Have a great week!
Tim

Quiet time is good. I often go into radio silence mode and cut off all communication with everyone.
Orchids - love them. There is a patch of wild grass in the Palace Gardens near me that has beautiful orchids every year. Those of us that know never tell anyone else where they are, as some selfish person will come along and pick them. So we enjoy them in private.
Keep making progress with that book. Little by little.
Hope you are feeling good. Me, I'm feeling stronger every day.
Take care Tim.
Bux

Glad to hear you are better and stronger, Bux. I am, too.

Yes, quiet time is needed. It helps.

I love orchids, too. Oh, must protect the ones at the Palace Garden. Don't they have a fence to block irresponsible and selfish flower pickers?

And thanks. I am making progress with the book. Albeit a little slower than I thought. Compiling old blog posts is not simple or easy. Since they were written 30 years ago. Need updating. And I am adding retrospective.

Have a great weekend, my friend! :)

Tim

Thanks Tim. Glad you are feeling good.
If they put a fence around them it will act like a thief magnet. People will know and they will be taken. Best to keep it a secret.
have yourself a super weekend.
Bux

Ah yes. Best not to draw attention to them. Smart.

Have a great week!
Tim

And you too, my friend. Grab that new week and do something with it.
Bux

Great to hear from you again Tim and I fully understand the need for some quiet time alone... the wife has been out of the country for work for the last week and I am loving the peace and quiet!

Sounds like your new book is coming along nicely... all the very best moving forward with this endeavour!

From my experience back in the day, orchids can be fairly difficult to look after, but... I am sure you will get them thriving again!

Take care buddy and enjoy the start to your weekend! :-)

haha ... shhhhh ... don't let your wife read your comment. hehe

Thanks for the kind wishes. The new book is moving along. But it's slower than I thought it would be. One would think it would be easier and faster to compile old blog posts into a book.

But then, as I read my old blog posts, I see lack of information and retrospective. Ended updating and rewriting it.

Orchids can be difficult. I had my share of orchid deaths. And yet, orchids can be easy, too. Especially in Singapore where the weather is more suited for it.

It's not easy to find the right combination. The right potting mix. The right fertilizer. The right amount of watering. The latter is especially difficult. These mini orchids suffered due to my overwatering them. Then again, not enough watering and they dry out.

Have a great weekend, buddy! :)

Tim

I try my best to keep her away from what I do here Tim! 🀣

Just keep on moving forward at a pace you feel comfortable with for your new book!

Like I said.. orchids... not the easiest plants to take care of.... so many variables with them!!

Have a wonderful weekend as well buddy!!

Have a great week, buddy! :)

Tim

You as well buddy! :-)

Very interesting. My uncle cultivated orchids many years ago. He had a huge, beautiful setup in a greenhouse near his home. He did it just for pleasure although he had enough of them I'm sure he could have sold them.
Thanks
Dan

Thanks Dan. I am sure your uncle enjoyed his orchids.

I am lucky to be in Singapore. No need greenhouse. 😊

Have a great weekend!

Tim

Seems like you are doing a good job getting it back to health, Tim! Good luck with the book too!

Jeff

Thanks, Jeff. I am doing my best. Pray they will survive and regrow.

Best of luck to you, too! πŸ‘

Tim

I am sure that they will, Tim!
