Paying homage to the past, building for the future

I believe in paying homage to our past.

What does that mean when selecting a domain name?

An appreciation for, and deep study of people has always fascinated me. It is one of the reasons that I became an historian. I love history. I always have. The people and the places that have sculpted the trajectory of human events has always been the source of my inspiration. Like as not, if you have studied history - or appreciate it at all - one will quickly realize that even the smallest changes to the myriad arcs of historical narratives changes the present. The smallest, simplest alterations to those an historical arc can have incredible impact on every event to come.

This new project is different. An attempt to change how we think, and build for the future. The Viridi Project is a dream of a future where the buildings in which we live make our lives sustainable, and healthier. It is also a dream of making nature and human civilization work in concert, rather than in competition. It is an opportunity to change the direction of human events. Even if it only changes the life of one person, human history will have changed. But as much as this project represents the future, I wanted to keep one eye on the past. There is much to be learned there, if only we pay attention to it. But I digress.

What does all this have to do with a domain name? Not a lot. Unless what you want your domain to communicate is an appreciation and respect for where we come from, and still show the vast potential we possess.

Potential is nothing without action. Energy is useless without direction. Now it's time to build in a new direction.
