HATE the BAIT - The Tactic to Upsell

Have you ever been working on your projects, and very happy with your progress, and then some marketer tries to BAIT you into an upgrade?

It is irritating.

Of course, we are all trying to make more money, BUT some marketers seem to be trying to drain every penny from the customers bank account.

I’m sure you have experienced this situation where you are browsing some content and then an interruption offer is put in place that is actually a baiting tactic to get you to upgrade.

Yes, the tactic works.
But it is also very irritating.

I was recently on a website, and was given an opportunity to watch a training video. However, when I started to watch the training video, it was then stopped telling me I needed to upgrade in order to see the full content of the video.

When we are “hungry” for that information, that might help us become successful, and someone places that bait in front of us, we want to consume it.

Taking away that opportunity, is like dangling a sandwich, in front of a starving, homeless person, and then pulling it away, telling them to go get a job.

So then, what are your thoughts?

Is the tactic of “baiting” people with information and then switching to “upselling” them an upgrade a smart (or even kind💕) marketing tactic?

I would like to hear your thoughts?

Yes definitely

I find it irritating too. If I intended to upgrade I would have already. The regular dangling of video bait to premium members that are only available to premium plus+ members is building on the number of reasons to not stay!

p.s. I have no intention of leaving yet but the lack of respect being shown is becoming annoying.

I know the feeling well. Anything they say and can do just to make the "buck" happen.

Myra ♥️

I get annoyed with it too, Brad!

Hi Brad,
Yes totally agree, it is a sign of greed, and I don't like it at all!

Take care.......Johan.
