Many motivations drive people to come to wealthy affiliates. Many reasons compel people to stay. Don't lose sight of the fact that you came here to make money. I don't care where you came from, how old you are, your education level, or whether you worked as a refuse collector or a college professor; coming here to make money applies to you.

At some point in your journey towards success things will get on top of you. Again there are myriads of events you can get bogged down. It may be technical challenges. When I first started building my email list, I just could not get to grips with Aweber, my chosen autoresponder. In fact, I gave up. I came back to it six months later and tried again and failed. This time, I didn't give up; I changed my autoresponder.

I still found it very difficult to build my list. Often I felt like crying. It's painful when you know that an email list is essential and no one is opening your emails. The path was long and arduous.

I wasted a huge amount of time and a lot of money building an unresponsive list. It was impressive how good I was at that. I hit the jackpot every time I added subscribers. Eventually, I learned that success lay in building my community from the ground up.

Sometimes, it's just easier to stay in our comfort zone. Our ego is there to keep us safe. It keeps us constantly in the past and present. It cannot envisage a future except one fraught with dangers. So it tells us it's better we don't try, because how will we feel when we fail. We all have that sinister, silent voice that tells us not to do things.

You know what I mean! It's Sunday afternoon, and the football/Formula One/cricket/box set is on the television, and you only have an hour before your family is coming round. So you may as well sit down and watch it, right?

Resting between bouts of learning is crucial. It helps to ground our learning. During these periods of rest, we integrate the processes we are learning about and understand them. It's also important to reward ourselves with breaks when we have achieved our goals.

When we opt out every day and decide to stay in our comfort zone, then nothing is going to change. If you want to build financial security, then you need to take action. If you do nothing day after day, then ultimately this will leads to a deep sense of shame, regret, and failure.

At some point in everyone's life, things get on top of everyone sometimes; those times can feel like we are hitting rock bottom. When these catastrophic events occur, it is easy to wallow and think nothing will ever go right again. The sense of failure is overwhelming. It is both challenging and frightening at the same time.

Failure can be the worst possible scenario if you let it.

Failure is not only a necessary part of learning. It can also be quite liberating. Instead of beating yourself up over your perceived failure, you can learn and grow from the experience. If you're not used to looking at failure as a positive aspect, then this will properly seem very strange to you. But once you stop looking at yourself as useless, you can begin to look at the potential around the failure.

The hard truth is that if you want to build the business, you have to set aside the time to do this. Some of you may think I spend a lot of my time in live chat, and I'm not getting anything done. You would be wrong, at least for the most part. I have two monitors. On one of the monitors, I am looking at live chat. The second monitor is open at the page where I am either writing or researching.

Yes, there are times when I lose the thread of the chat because I am concentrating mostly on what I'm writing. There are also times when I'm concentrating on live chat because there's a lot of questions going on, and I suddenly realize I've only written 200 words in the last hour.

Both of those scenarios are okay. Most days, I write about 8 to 10,000 words. Some days are more productive not because I concentrate harder but because I am writing about the subject. I have already written 200,000 words or more around the subject.

This article will take me 20 minutes to dictate and another 15 minutes to correct my spelling and punctuation. The reason I know so much about mindset is not just the fact that I have studied it ( I have), but it is more about the fact that I have lived it through failing.

Why not just give up?

Sometimes, it seems that the most straightforward path that we can take is to give up on our current situation and move on to something new. Sometimes, yes, this can be more productive. However, if we are already feeling like we have hit rock bottom, giving up is the worst possible thing that you can do. It perpetuates the cycle of failure and perpetuates the sense that you are useless!

There are many reasons not to give up. There are so many opportunities waiting for us if we are only open to the possibility of seeking them out. Nobody wants to realize they had thrown their toys out of the pram when if they had just stepped outside for a moment, they would've realized there was a grand parade full of opportunities walking down their street!

If you are willing to surrender yourself to the possibility that your options are limitless, it is much harder to wallow in misery.

Giving up is never truly an option. All of us are capable of so many great things. But what we have to do is learn how to believe in ourselves and give ourselves everything that we could ever possibly need to succeed emotionally and mentally before we will ever be able to go about it.

There are times when it would be much wiser to try to find a different path. It is wise to evaluate your progress honestly and decide whether or not it is time to take a different route. You can always be flexible in the way you approach your goals, but if something isn't working and it continues not to work, it is better to ditch it. That is the only time when it is acceptable to give up. But you are not giving up entirely. You are just giving up on a particular plan of action that was not helping you to achieve the things you needed to achieve.

What is important most of all is to know that you matter and you are capable of doing great things, even if you encountered challenges and obstacles in the past. You have to believe in yourself fully. Never let yourself think that you aren't capable of picking yourself up.

Prime yourself To Success

If you have struggled in the past in your path towards success, that struggle will soon prove to be very valuable. Because when you struggle, you are learning.

A lot of success depends on your mentality. You have to make sure that you are prepared fully for the possibility of failure and primed for the likelihood of success. You cannot let yourself be convinced that you will never succeed. Instead, begin to focus on the future. Every decision you make daily will ultimately metamorphosize into one intention. You attract what you focus on most of the time.

Ergo, if you feel you can never succeed, success is for other people or you think - Guess what's going to happen. You are going to attract what you are thinking about. In this case, it's failure.

It is very important to remember that your future is in your hands. You have to own it. Every choice that you make now in the present moment can affect you later on. You have to try your hardest to make good and conscientious choices that are going to help you thrive in the future rather than come back to bite you.

Everybody has weaknesses, but if you are willing to look at yourself objectively and understand that you do not have to be a victim, you have control over what happens to you and your destiny, it is that much easier to prime yourself for success.

This may seem more difficult if you have faced failures in the past. You may feel like there is no point in trying anymore. However, that just proves that there is far more reason to try now than ever. You are on a downward spiral if you find yourself stuck in that way.

The only way out of something so defeating is by taking your power back and believing that every single choice you make is going to make a difference. Don't fool yourself into believing that you are stuck. Instead, take your power back into your hands and move forward rather than backward.

Picking yourself up

Whatever may have been holding you back, that is in the past. It is an opportunity to learn from strategies that were not successful and regroup into an even more powerful force than before. When you know what doesn't work, you have a greater understanding of what will work.

We don't learn by doing everything successfully the first time. We learn most when we are unable to get it the first and second time around.

With a greater understanding of your own potential and the value of the opportunities surrounding you, you will be able to truly begin to focus on your future in a way that is productive and meaningful rather than defeating and hopeless. All of us are capable of rising to our greater potential. As long as we have the tools and the mindset, we can become the people that we want to be the most.

We are never always winning, but that doesn't mean we can't always be positive. You have all the tools you need to succeed within this platform. Wealthy affiliates offer you everything you need. More importantly it is a community of people. A lot of these people are prepared to give up their time and knowledge to help you succeed.

It's called paying it forward.

By going forward every day, I don't mean doing something right every day. I mean, taking action every day, any action. If you take action and it is wrong, then you can correct it. You can pay it forward for your future. If you sit back and do nothing because of how you felt in the past, then nothing is going to be the result.

Every single one of us, here in wealthy affiliates, has made mistakes and stumbled. Some of us have written the Encyclopaedia about mistakes! One thing that I have learned here in 14 years in this community is that everybody who doesn't give up does eventually succeed.

No matter who you are, whatever your background, whatever your education, you are not a failure. No matter what experiences you have dealt with, you can find a way back. The one thing that is true about life is that nothing stays the same. Everything is always transitioning into something different.

"Is the only constant in life is change" Heraclitus.

Sure, structure and routine exist and can help us achieve our goals, but there is some point where we have to decide whether or not we are willing to stay stagnant and stuck in a routine that doesn't work for us or create something new.

It can be very hard for us to believe that we are capable of succeeding, especially if we have faced a lot of failure in our time. Fortunately, there is a lot of opportunities out there for us, even when we are not doing the best at something that we find valuable or important. No matter what, the struggles you face are not what defined you. You are never a failure. In fact, you are a very powerful being capable of many things. It does no good to dwell on the ways you were unable to move forward. Instead, use them as a learning experience and move on.

Rather than blaming yourself for bad things that happen, begin to view these events objectively so that you can begin to view and appreciate everything that you do have instead of regretting the things that you do not.

As a final note, it may well be that your parents/grandparents/teachers/peers told you as a child that you would never make anything of your life. If you were really unlucky, all of the above told you that you were a failure! One of Winston Churchill's school reports stated that he'd never amount to anything, and the sooner his parents realized that the easier it would be for them to accept the person he was.

The structures and vibrations of children's brain before the age of seven are different to adults. It's governed by plasticity! Quite literally, you absorb absolutely everything around you, and if that is negative, that is what you absorb. Your brain is in a theta state. Coincidentally that is the same state that your brain needs to be hypnotized. The Jesuit usual had it right when they said

"Give me a child the age of seven, and I will give you the man!"

They knew full well that whatever they instilled into children would stick for a lifetime. When we hit difficulties, we go back to our default pattern because we like routine. It's never too late to change that default pattern.

Fantastic post! You are right; we are here to make money. Part of my personal success is breaking out of illness and isolation. I missed participating in the lives of other people during the pandemic, and because of long-term illness that was unavoidable. I am nowhere near where you are; I am also a new and emerging author, and it takes time to learn to write in the first place. It's been a challenge. Authors are finding the same situation with email lists and exposure. A big attempt is being put to join together in a more established community and share our success and clients with each other. More sales, more exposure; more success. Writing is a passion of mine; I plan to take my time to learn to do it well.

FAILURE is NOT an option! If you even think "fail" you are setting yourself up with doubt. And yes, there were plenty of people who tried to discourage me. But in the end, I left them behind in the rear-view mirror with the "negativety" and unwillingness to learn anything. That was always part of the problem anyway. No drive. Drive is important to run your own business or succeed at all. The old tape recorder was yanked, and I put a new tape in. It's a great listen; it's my story. And no, I'm not going to fail. And to boot, I now sometimes share my perspective better if I decide to leave a message of encouragement to a family member who is throwing their life away.

LOVE the post!! I hear you clearly. :)

Love the analogy Denise i look forward to reading your successes

This is excellent, and of course, the best advice I ever had was "one-one is coming to save you". I suppose the most challenging part is knowing when to ditch a project or keep going.

I think your thoughts on this is fascinating.

Of course, most people give up so early on it is crazy.

Although WA instils a three-month success benchmark for people, I don't think it is realistic.

I think for most niches and brands, it is at least two years. But then....

An amazing read. Thanks, Phil

i think that is the average for a newbie although of course it can be done in less

What a masterpiece of inspiration! You set me on fire. Thank you so much for this encouraging piece of work. 🙏🏻

Thank you so much for your kind words

Although I was always encouraged by my parents, I'm sure many thought I'd never become really successful at something. In my 2 years here at Wealthy Affiliate I've learnt a lot and put that into practice. I've made a ton of mistakes along the way, and beat myself up over things. However, My self belief has grown and I've also learnt the power of goal setting. I'm very motivated and know I'll achieve the goals I've set myself. Sometimes things take a bit longer but that's ok.

it's been a joy to watch your cat blog blossom

Thank you Catherine:)

I was once told that I wasn't going to make anything of my life.

When I hear things like that, it drives and motivates me to do what I know that I can do

My drive and business vision is the thing that keeps me going.

Quitting was never an option. I am always going to constantly try until I figure it out, maybe using thinking outside the box approach as well.

As long as I have my focus and sticking to my plan daily, I will be okay.

There is no stronger motivation than when you've hit rock bottom. That is when you know that the only way is up

I've read throughout your engaging article. Thank you for this extra motivating an inspiring post

Simone as always thank you for your inspiring comments. Never ever give up girl we have your back

I won't but it is nice to know that someone has my back :)

I didnt mean me alone I meant the community
