Front Page of Google!
Bam! That was fast. My site www.freebloggingresources.com is on the front page of Google, in the number 1 and 2 spots for the quoted keyword "free blogging resources". I've had front page before, but NEVER number one. Granted, this keyword gets almost no traffic. But, there are over 60,000 competing pages. That has to count for something.
By the way, I chose this domain because I thought it perfectly summed up my niche and was brandable.
I put up my first post three days ago. Amazing.

Google has come out and said that they are going to be giving less, or even no, relevance to exact match domain names in the near future. It obviously has some benefits in the short term. I chose to pick my domain name based on brandability. I will eventually be ranking for many, many keywords as I build out my site.
I was originally just going to brag about being number 2, but I went and checked right before and it had jumped up. It was probably only for a second, ha ha.
Google ranks different locations differently. So while it is #2 here it could very well be #1 in your location.

I have a question that relates to this, I hope its ok to ask it here. How do I know what page in google I am at?
do you use chrome? You can search google in an incognito window, or just log out of google (as it will personalize your results if you try to search logged in) and then just search with google for the keyword you are trying to rank for.
Another really cool tool is a website called www.whatpageofsearchamion.com
You will rank differently for different keywords. The most basic way is to type in your keyword and work your way through the pages to see if you show up. Make sure you click the globe icon, instead of the person icon to the right of the search bar. This will give you regular results vs. personal results.
There is also a program called cuterank. The free version lets you track your rankings for one website, for as many keywords as you need. It is a little slow, but it is an easy way to keep track of your progress.
Jaaaxy will also tell you where you rank for any keyword that you enter.
Thanks for the info!
