Hello all! :) My name is Wendy and I guess here is where I'm supposed to share my story....

After high school I did what any other kid who wants to better themselves would do, I went to college. I went even though I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life.. I was brainwashed into the mentality that there were NO other acceptable options. I just assumed I'd figure it out along the way like many others do.

Long story short, 5 years later I ended up with a bachelor's degree and still had no idea where my life was going. After graduating I worked jobs here and there, but nothing I really wanted to be doing for the rest of my life.

I was really depressed and didn't know what I was going to do. One day I woke up and decided I needed to do something, anything... So I started searching how to make money online. I remember reading a review for an online program that seemed so much different than all the rest. It seemed...real. I decided to give it a chance.

That program? It was Wealthy Affiliate.

Now here I am, a year and a half later and I am doing what everyone dreams of doing. I'm making consistent income online. I learned it actually IS possible to do this.

I can honestly say WA is the one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I am forever thankful for Kyle and Carson, and everyone here that makes this place so awesome. I couldn't have done it without all your help, and I am here trying to give back to the community to the best of my ability.

WOWZA Wendy!! Love your story!!

Btw, I came across your name too when I signed up under Steve (I'vetriedthat) back in February 2017, and I've been wanting to connect with you as well. So glad to have found you!!

I don't see any of the certification courses listed on your accomplishments. How were you able to obtain your biz with no training? hmm...

Any advice?

Happy to follow you... :)

Thank you! It's a pleasure to connect with you as well and sorry for the late reply here. I have been a member here since 2012 and the certification badge is a newer feature here at WA, I completed all the training before they added that so it doesn't show that I have! I didn't even notice that until now!

Definitely complete the training though, I wouldn't advise you not to!

Thank you Wendy...I'm sure you're busy as a new mom and also your business pursuits.

I'm curious ...would love to know what your niche is...

I had many detours this year (divorce sucks!! Esp when you try to free your spouse from his awful job and he leaves you destitute!!). UGH!

Anyway... I'm feeling 2018 will be my year to shine!! Woo Hoo...let's get this show on the road!!

How is your business going?

Blessings,

~Evon :)

Ha, I can completely relate to your story! I really didn't want to go to university and only went because I felt like I had to. I've never used my degree in any useful way and it was a total waste of my time doing it. It was interesting - I studied anthropology - but it didn't help me any way. I just wasted a few years doing something I didn't really want to do and got into debt! I plan to tell my daughter not to go to university unless she really wants to! Finally though, after working in a load of office jobs I didn't particularly enjoy, I jacked it all in and moved to Thailand to run a backpacker hostel. I'm still in Thailand, nearly 8 years later and running my own Virtual Assistant business now. I've learned so much more running my own businesses than I ever did working for other people and I'm so much happier now! :)

Hi Wendy,  Welcome to the WA Family.  I'm sure you have lots of questions...trust the process and do the lessons one by one and you will succeed!  I suggest you start the Certification lessons and go Premium as it opens the door to lots of resources.  If you ever get stuck, discouraged or want to give up just know there is an entire community rooting for your success who are ready to help!  Much success!

Hi Wendy! I accidentally closed your introductory message before I could finish reading it and I can't seem to get back to it as a standard member (I hope to upgrade to premium after I get my financial aid check). I'm really interested in the extra resources that I saw at the end of your message; I was wondering if you could resend it?
I ran across Wealthy Affiliate from your website, and I just want to thank you for this opportunity! I hope you're well.

Hey Wendy, glad to find you in WA. I stumbled onto your Amazon Associates review, and was informed and impressed. I love your approach and writing style, and I'm not surprised you are making money at this.

Your story here is powerful, concise and artfully crafted. I hope you will be a contact and a supporter, since I need help from strong performers like you.

After many years of selling at a loss online ( banthrax.com ) I came to WA to learn how to build an effective marketing funnel to drive sales for my existing products and some new ones. My first attempt at a site to inform and nurture prospects in my niche is https://failsafeisolation.com/fail-safe-isolation

Any advice or support you can offer on my site and my journey will be most welcome, and any help I can provide is ready for you. Just ask.
Cheers,
Steve

Thanks Wendy for reaching out! :).
Quick question - what will you advice in an instance where I have already set up a website (prior to joining WA) that offers services to my audience/clients e.g. job coaching.
Will you recommend that I become an affiliate of other well established companies/websites in my niche and promote their services (which are similar to mine) on my own website ?.
Is this appropriate ?.

Also, any great niche ideas you have will be welcome!.

Thanks in advance for the responses to my questions

Hi Wendy Jane,

Belated congratulations on Amelia Jane's arrival in the world!
Many thanks for extending your support in my early days with WA.
I seem to be up and running now with an interesting Consumer Direct Marketing strategy, which is working well for me.
Do hope you are enjoying being a Mum, and that you are juggling the baby needs and work needs and all the rest!

I've been making websites for 5 years or so ... and mostly on WordPress. Now, I'm looking for ones that would love to work together to build successful online website.

Visit my website here edijsantoso*com (been running for less than a week) to see all my works and other stuff (it's in Bahasa Indonesia though, will add the English version anytime soon); or head to my Facebook page @EdiJSantoso. Ideas

Hi Wendy

Tx for the warm welcome!

Just an easy question:

Will the domain I am going to register with WA be connected with what kind of membership level I have?

For example let's say, I decide not to upgrade to premium, does that have inpact of this doamin or the cost of the domain like the services for the domain?

Kind regards,

Ralph

Hello Ralph,

If you are just a starter member, you will only be able to create on the free domains (will be a siterubix.com extension)

To register and host a domain you own, you have to be a premium member. So if you aren't planning or not sure if you are going to upgrade, I would stick to a free domain as you won't be able to actually host here with the free membership. You can always transfer to a domain you own later after going premium.

Hi Wendy! I am currently setting up my website. I was doing some searching while creating my title and I saw your website! And your picture! It's so nice to see your website! I am currently working on mine, my domain is this:

putyourselfthroughcollege.com

Anyway I just thought I would stop by to say hi. Nice to meet you. I'm only 20% of the way through the affiliate bootcamp. Nice to see your website up and running!

Wishing you continued success

Hi Wendy,
on 1/20/17 I was browsing the internet and I came across a Working at Home Website. I was going to register with them. But, I wanted to do a review on them first before I pay the $97.00. I went on Google and ended up at your website reading about the company. You were so convincing, I immediately closed the page and continue reading your website. I like how you advised people that had questions. How you talked highly about WA. They let people try the website for 7 days with no credit card required. I decided to give it a try; I registered last night and so far I am very happy with my decision. I thank you for the information you have at your website.

Hi Wendy, thanks for your message. I am still getting my head around all of this:)! I have sent you an enquiry regarding a niche idea - christianjewelry. I already own the domain: beaconlifechristianstore.com (about 5 yrs - with lots of versions!) so am wondering if this would be a better option to start my first website, rather than try to be 'too specific' with christianjewelry. Sorry about the long message. i would rather just get this right the first time around!:)
Many thanks for your advice Wendy, regards, Di

Hey no problem! You can incorporate the training here into your existing domain if you want, but sometimes it is best to start with an entirely fresh website to follow the training. I don't think christian jewelry is too specific, actually. There are still lots of keywords you can target within the niche. Also you can link the new website you create here to your existing domain, and vice verca.

Hey, I have left several messages for you, Kyle & Carson-no one is giving me any help. If you want me to get a paid membership?? Rt. now I am very unimpressed. It seems lesson plan I am following is very out of date. I am wasting time. It seem I am missing all in one SEO plugin on my website. How can I deal with this???????
Reply
wendyjane Premium
I'm sorry, Allie I believe I have responded to your PMs. The lesson plans are kept as up to date as possible, but things change so rapidly there are always going to be little things here and there that may be different but for the most part it is current. If you don't have the all in one SEO plugin, you can go to your plugins and click the "add new" button, from there you can type in a search for all in one SEO and install it on your site.

I have read WendyJane's rebuttal of complaints aimed at Wealthy Affiliates and her essay about WealthyAffiliates (WA). I found both essays to be well written, thoughtful, and encouraging. WendyJane did not mention what her type of bachelor's degree, but she writes clearly, without excess hyperbole, and with a flourish that makes her style entertaining. I have read a number of articles about how to make money on the internet. Most sounded like pie in the sky BS. I discovered Wealthy Affiliates as I was debunking an Amazon Affiliate scam phone call I received. I look forward to getting started with WA and seeing how it goes. I plan to keep a journal of my WA adventure. After my first 90 days I will publish a synopsis of my Journal.

Hi Wendy.

Yesterday I finished all Level 1 lessons and before I even think to go Premium, I´d like to know a few things first. So if you have the chance, please enlighten me on:
1) How Google Adsense really works?
2) How can I advertise products of relevant companies in my website?
3) Can I create an Amazon Review Site?
4) How can I promote products from my website?

Thanks in advance for your attention and time.

Wendy,

You invited me to contact you if I needed help in the future. I need some help, now. I'm not sure if you can help me, but I'm contacting some of the most experienced WA members to maybe get connected to someone who can check my thinking on a problem I have.

There are many details and nuances to the story of how I came to be in this jam, but I'll try to cut to the chase.

I got involved with a program that's doing business as JobKilling.org. With what I see now as a deluded set of expectations, I ended up signing a promissory note for $399/mo, which is killing ME instead, financially. I'm ashamed of the decision I made. I'm about to send them an email saying that I want to end the arrangement, but I just need someone to give me advice, warnings, ideas about what's right to do in this case, hopefully before I have to send that email. I feel like I could make a case for being scammed, but really it boils down to the legal issue of me having signed a promissory note with attending ramifications. Perhaps someone could advise me on how to negotiate an amicable end of the relationship.

Don't feel obligated in any way to offer advice--I'm just trying to share with others I respect and use anything I learn to handle this the right way. It may even be inappropriate to bring this up with another WA associate, but I'll value any perspective or advice.

Thanks,
James

Hi Wendy
I have 2 sites in mind; one that I will upgrade when I go premium in the next few days (my BIG idea) and one I want to keep on the free side to experiment..the one on the free side...for large runners. Being a big runner, we are different than the smaller folks who fly past us..that is my big sweaty beast site..

Hi Wendy,
I am working through lesson 4 and you are right - 'what is my niche?'
I enjoy writing rhyming stories and funny limericks and my initial idea was to start building a web site around this. Not too sure about the web-site layout, however and the content of the site is a worry too. Also, I have self published a children's rhyming story (ebook) on Amazon and would love to promote this on my web-site. Do you think this is a good idea?
Would love your thoughts on the idea and any other niche ideas you think would be worth developing.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Wendyjane! I am doing some quick work and have to leave soon but I am going through the training again and again I am up against a wall. I was looking at Kyle's "How to Lose Belly Fat Today" as it was being used as an example in the lesson. It says to leave a message below but I can see no comment section. What's up with that? Thanks
Reply
wendyjane Premium
Hey Celeste, I am not sure what you mean are you referring to on his actual website? I took a look and was able to see the box to leave a comment ... so maybe it was a glitch or browser issue. Is it still not showing up or am I misunderstanding what you're referring to?
Reply
CelesteG Premium
I am rereading the course and am in Lesson 1 near the end where there is a link to "howtolosebellyfattoday.com" (I think I remembered that correctly). It says to leave a comment below and I can't see where. This is his actual website and it may be a browser issue--how would I fix it? I remember when I started my site I could not see such a box then either. I thought it may have been the particular theme...I am lost.
Reply
wendyjane Premium
If it's a browser issue you could try using a different browser to see if it fixes it. I also know some themes are weird about the comments but when I go to Kyle's site I do see the comment section.

Although, something to note is if there are already comments left on the article, you have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the comment section in order to see the box to leave a comment. It is an annoying thing but just how WordPress websites are set up by default.
Reply
CelesteG Premium
Thanks for your reply. I have looked at my own website homeswimspas.com and found that if I click on the word 'comment' it takes me to a comment section and a place for the commenter to leave a name and email address. However, I still cannot find Kyle"s comment area even after having switched browsers. At the end of his post, where he says,"leave a comment below" there is the copyright info and his word press theme. I didn't even know what a browser was so I guess I learned something, But I just don't get the "leave a comment" thing and then see no place to do it!

HI Wendy! It was great to read your profile! I have only been a member for 2 days and the amount of information I have learned is absolutely amazing! I am very determined to be successful! I am a nurse and have been for 23 years, I want to transition out of direct patient care, this is giving me the opportunity to design websites that are health care/ patient and family advocate information and I will hopefully be able to make a income doing it! Thanks again for sharing your story!!
