You Have The Right To Be Rich!

There are many people in the world demonstrating and preaching praise in poverty. However, the simple truth is that it is impossible to live a complete or successful life unless you are rich. Do you disagree? Hear me out.

A person develops in three ways - mind, body, and soul. To rise to the most incredible possible heights and development of your soul, you need the resources to have many things. Today's society is such that you must have money to possess things. Based on that philosophy alone, the basis of advancement has to be to get rich.

Development is the objective of all life, and all people have the inalienable right to development. Your right to life means you have the right to have free and unrestricted access to all the things you need for your fullest mental, physical, and spiritual development. In other words, you have the right to be rich.

I am not talking about riches figuratively. To indeed be rich, you cannot be satisfied or even content with a little, not if you can use and enjoy more. Nature's purpose is the advancement of life. Everyone deserves all that contributes to the beauty, elegance, power, and richness of life. To settle for less is sinful. The Bible tells us that the Spirit of God sharpens our desire by giving us a taste of what's ahead. He provides us with a little taste of heaven in our hearts so that we'll NEVER SETTLE FOR LESS. - (Paraphrasing 2nd Corinthians 5:5-15.)

If you own everything you ever want or need to live the life you are capable of living, you are already rich. However, no amount of money in the world can buy you everything you want or need. Life is far too complicated for that. Even the most ordinary person requires a significant amount of wealth to achieve completeness.

Humans have an innate desire to become all they are capable of becoming. The dream of success is natural, and the desire to realize our dreams is inherent in human nature. We cannot help wanting to be our best. Working to be our best, however, is another story.

Success in life is not about how much money you have. The person who dies with the most stuff still dies, and they can't take their things with them. Success in life is about becoming the person you want to be. Money helps, but it doesn't make you into that person.

There isn't anything wrong with wanting to be rich. The desire for wealth is the desire for a fuller, more prosperous, more abundant life and is worthy of praise. Contrarily, the person who does not want to live more abundantly is the abnormal one.

Humans live for three motives: Body, Mind, and Soul. These three motives are equal, and one is not better or more holy than the other. All three are equally desirable, and you cannot live a full life if one of the three is cut short.

There is nothing noble or righteous about living only for the soul while denying our bodies and minds. So too is it loathsome to live for the body while denying the mind and soul. True living is giving all that you can provide, body, mind, and soul. Do that, and you will experience true happiness, satisfaction, and joy, making you rich beyond your wildest dreams. Anything less, and you will undoubtedly experience an unsatisfied desire.

Wallace Wattles says, "Desire is possibility seeking expression or function seeking performance."

To live fully in your body, you need good food, shelter, comfortable clothing, freedom from excessive work, rest, and recreation.

To live fully in your mind, you need knowledge and the time to learn it, the opportunity for travel and observation, intellectual companionship, and intellectual recreations such as art and beauty.

To live fully in your soul, you must have love. Poverty denies love's fullest expression because bestowing benefits upon those they love creates a person's highest level of happiness. The most natural expression of love is the spontaneous expression of giving.

A person who has nothing to give will never fulfill the role of a spouse, parent, citizen, or even a human being. People use material things to find a full life for the body, develop their minds, and strengthen their souls. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance to each person to be rich. So a desire to be rich is perfectly normal and correct. You cannot help but do so.

Giving your best attention to learning how to get rich is entirely correct and acceptable because it is the noblest of all studies. If you choose to neglect this, you are not only derelict in your duty to yourself; you are derelict in your responsibility to God and humanity. There is no more extraordinary service that you can render to God or humanity than to make the most of yourself.

"To not think about money is selfish - because in doing so, you are delegating the responsibility to provide for your needs to others, and that is selfish." - Wallace Wattles.

Thank you for sharing your post. Most of us are already rich, and it's just we don't appreciate what we already have that makes us rich. We want more!

Amen Yvonne!

A good read Tom. Yes I want money for me for just being but I already know that an abundant excess of mine will be diverted to a homeless charity. In fact I already do but not on the scale thatI would like.

Thanks Dave! Being rich is not about money. It's about being significant and doing all you can to help others. Money helps, but it is not the key ingredient to a life of richness!

A very thought-provoking post, Tom! I agree in principle, but I also believe that God has already given me everything I need. I am working now to make more so that I can give to others. I hope you have a GREAT weekend!

Thanks Jeff! That's kind of the point I was making. God has given us everything we need, including free will and the desire to always want more. Ultimately, it's not what you have that matters, it's what you do with it! Have a great weekend Jeff! Thanks again!

Yes Jeff. Me too.

I do disagree:
“America is the wealthiest nation on Earth, but its people are mainly poor, and poor Americans are urged to hate themselves. To quote the American humorist Kin Hubbard, 'It ain’t no disgrace to be poor, but it might as well be.' It is in fact a crime for an American to be poor, even though America is a nation of poor. Every other nation has folk traditions of men who were poor but extremely wise and virtuous, and therefore more estimable than anyone with power and gold. No such tales are told by the American poor. They mock themselves and glorify their betters. The meanest eating or drinking establishment, owned by a man who is himself poor, is very likely to have a sign on its wall asking this cruel question: 'if you’re so smart, why ain’t you rich?' There will also be an American flag no larger than a child’s hand – glued to a lollipop stick and flying from the cash register.

Americans, like human beings everywhere, believe many things that are obviously untrue. Their most destructive untruth is that it is very easy for any American to make money. They will not acknowledge how in fact hard money is to come by, and, therefore, those who have no money blame and blame and blame themselves. This inward blame has been a treasure for the rich and powerful, who have had to do less for their poor, publicly and privately, than any other ruling class since, say Napoleonic times. Many novelties have come from America. The most startling of these, a thing without precedent, is a mass of undignified poor. They do not love one another because they do not love themselves.”

Hi Arviell. Thanks for the response! I understand Kurt's quote and agree with it to an extent, but my post was not necessarily talking about being financially wealthy.

I am specifically talking about the idea that to be rich, you must live a life of significance that fulfills you in body, mind, and soul. Not necessarily by filling your pockets with diamonds and gold.

“Like so many Americans, she was trying to construct a life that made sense from things she found in gift shops.”
