Youtube Challenge Day 6: Having a "Why", a Mission, and Vision Fuels Consistency

Today is day six and I was able to accomplish my goals today. I wrote one blog post, recorded one video, and wrote my post here. Yay!

I didn't write an email to my list, but I'll make sure to do that tomorrow.

Consistency isn't easy especially in the beginning when you feel that you aren't getting the results that you want. My subscribers are growing, my views are growing, and thank God, I was aware that it wouldn't grow overnight!

I understand that Youtube channels work very similar to Wordpress websites where you are in a "Sandbox" in the beginning, but the sandbox on Youtube is much shorter because the demand is so high and the supply of content is much smaller.

Consistency is key in this business. You have to commit to publishing content that is of value to users for a prolonged period of time. It's best to commit to solving a problem, and to have a mission and vision for your business, so you continually focus on whether you're achieving the mission; instead of focusing on money, traffic, or other algorithms.

Some good vision statements could be:

I want to inspire 10,000 people this year to .....

I want to help 10,0000 to change their lives by....

And, the mission would say...

I plan to accomplish this by...

You may have to tweak your strategy several times to accomplish your mission and vision, but it's much better to focus on those you're serving, the content you're creating to help them, and a problem you're planning to solve for them rather than to focusing too much on the metrics we can't really control. Having a clear vision and mission could be a gamechanger for you. It's a continual motivator for me.

Where are you directing your readers to go? What's the end goal?

My mission is to help entrepreneurs to start a business from idea to enterprise. I feel passionate about that. It excites me. What's your "why"? Does it fuel you? Does your "why" carry you thru those times when other metrics don't look like you'd like?

This is great, Tiffany!! I can't wait to see what you do with YouTube.

- Christina

Thanks Christina! I can't wait to see either. Hopefully, I help lots of people with it. Are you considering?

Yes, I am. It would really be out of my comfort zone, but I think that's a good thing.

What do you use to record your videos?

Also, do you have software for screen capture?

- Christina

I'm using my computer webcam and screencastomatic -- nothing fancy. I was uncomfortable too but it's why there's less supply than demand there. Many people are unwilling to be uncomfortable, so those that are, are seeing lots of traffic. It's the 2nd largest search engine aside from Google! You gotta get on there. I'm sure you'll have your quirks at the beginning but you'll get your flow.

Thanks for the tips and advice! :)

You're welcome!

You are doing so well. I like your blog. I'm impressed with your progress. Keep up the good work.

Very good! Proud of the follow through!

Thanks!

I have been trying to listen to all your videos, even if its the next morning. I notice you look a lot more comfortable and it shows good leadership in going outside of your comfort zone, and how it improves all aspects of the business.
Take care,
Bill

Thanks so much! I'm trying my best. I wasn't comfortable in the first video, but by the end of the 1st week, I was much more comfortable. Still, while starting the second week after the weekend, I felt like I had to muster my courage again, but the overall goal is to help people so I use that to refocus.
One thing I really didn't like is the thought of doing negative reviews in video because I didn't want to hurt the product creators feelings, but overall, I want to consumer to have the best, so it's a constant rebalancing act. Thanks so much for taking your time to watch and give feedback on my videos. You don't know how much I appreciate your support!

I look at the type of videos and blog post which show reviews, and it is a balance to achieve. You do it well in a very respectful and understanding way. Keep it up!

Congratulations on accomplishing today's goals, Tiffany!

Thank you for reminding us that consistency is key. Content is king and the only way to have your content rank is to be consistent.

I also admire how you make it a point to say affirmations about what you want to achieve. I created a post today about affirming to stay positive.

Thank you for sharing your challenge. It is inspiring!

Amy

Thanks Amy! I'll have to check out your post.

Great job Tiffany we celebrate your dedication.

Thanks! I really appreciate your support along this challenge. You've been right there all the way so far. Thanks so much for that. It's definitely motivating.
