"when will i succeed?"
Socrates, the philosopher, while walking one day was joined by a young man who asked him “Socrates, What must I do to succeed?” Socrates did not answer. The young man asked again, thinking maybe Socrates did not hear him. “Socrates,” he yelled, “what must I do to succeed?” But again Socrates did not answer. They continued walking without Socrates saying a word until they came to a lake. Socrates then took the young man by the arm and led him into the water. When the water was up to their necks, Socrates grasped the young man and plunged him under the water and held him there. The young man struggled to free himself, but Socrates overpowered him and continued holding him under the water. The young man grew more frantic but Socrates still held him under. After a long time the young man, desperate for air, shoved with all his strength and broke free— finally able to come up for air.
It was then Socrates spoke these words...

Shoo! Am I the only one who's feeling relieved that Socrates wasn't my teacher? Tough, hard hitting lesson. So glad I didn't have to half drown to get it. Certainly gets the point across.
Hey - I went to a "private" school where they used to whack your knuckles with a stick to get their point across. That was tough - but at least I could breathe!
