Done, my friend. You have a great website - and those recipes are just what I have been looking for. I am a freak over healthy smoothies.

The Detox page is fantastic. I look forward to visiting the rest of your site when I can pull a break from my business.

Thanks for the follow...love your website and especially the "fake" fur. There is atrocious cruelty to animals for fur, skinning alive, beatings, I've signed many petitions against it. Good to see someone supplying an alternative. Perhaps you can promote on the anti-fur lobby. Best of luck.

I am with you on "Stop the madness" of killing our critters in the name of fashion. But it is also a tough call for me to wave the flag too much on the topic. I live in Alaska. Fur and skins are used here out of NECESSITY, not fashion. We don't just eat what we kill but sometimes we gotta wear it, too.

Glad you visited and like my site. It is indeed a labor of love (and FUN) for me.

Loretta, Thank you commenting in the comments section of Suphat Pasree that the profile appears to be 'spamming'. I have learned to look first at others comments to feel out 'following' profiles. Though sorry to hear your email is flooded, you may have saved a few unknowing or inexperienced ones from a hassle. So thanks for posting a warning.

And, love your site too as I'm a big bargain hunter, DIY type of person.

SuzQ, I, too, like reading others comments and interactions before deciding if this is someone I wanna add to my network... LIKE YOU. You have a Follow coming from me.

Thank you for the attention you have paid to my situation... and for REAL - thank you for visiting my website. Yep, I am a Bargain Hunting guru! Which of course led me to the idea of doing a website on FAUX FASHION & FUN... still working on the site but I figured it was time to launch it and get some feedback and comments from my fellow WAers.

I have not worked out all the kinks yet - but all my Affiliate Product links are ACTIVE so I have been making sales! That is really cool because I have not done my SEO to have it ranked on Google or any search engines.

I guess there are just some people out there seriously looking for some GOOD FAUX PRODUCTs. COOL

Thanks again, for your visit and thoughts.

Wow - your website is packed with good and JUICY (must be the grapes I saw that made me choose that word). You have a keen edge on the Health industries. Finding affiliate products should be a snap for you.

As you can tell my entire site is an "Amazon Store". That may change when I have more time because Amazon pay-outs are soooo meager. I'm at about 4% (AAARRRGH). I gotta sell a lot of fake products to make a dollar at that low a rate. Still, it has been the easiest and quickest way to pull my site together. I also have a Consulting business that demands a lot of my time and a very spoiled cat that let's me know when I have been working too much and not petting her enough!

Let me know if I can help you with anything. I have come across some prettty good Affiliate companies in terms of quality health products and good pay-outs.

Loretta, I just PMed you re your message. Yes a totally suspicious person but be careful as this problem comes up periodically and people become inflamed and consequences follow. (Not always to the person in question.) Make sure you feel comfortable before you follow someone.

As an aside I love your website. I will go back soon and read it properly and leave some totally fully and perhaps irrelevant comments!

Helen... NOPE, not Following this Fella. He says nothing on his profile and has NO interaction with the WAers who are friendly enough to Follow and acknowledge him. He just sends them an automated "Nice to meet you" with the first 3 letters of their name... Gee, we can't tell that that's not a real person, right? And what is with that picture? Not someone I would Follow.

Glad you love my website. It is really a blast to work on. Still a work in progress but already generating sales. "Fee, Fi - FAUX is FUN"

Ps I have no intention of following him.

Speaking of fake, remember (maybe) those horrible fake eyelashes. Dallas, my friend, and I had gone to my cousin's 21st years ago. We got plastered (you could do that back then and not lose your licence). Driving home, following the gutter for direction, I glanced at her as she drove along (pretty straight actually, all things considered). One of the eyelashes had fallen off but had caught, perfectly placed, on her cheek. Oh sometimes one wishes they had a camera. She didn't figure out why I was in hysterical laughter until we got home and her daughter also cracked up with laughter! Good things the cops didn't stop her or they would still be laughing.

Ha Ha - I guess I should have a blog where you can share your story. It is a riot.

You can tell by my website - I love my fake beauty products... but there are consequences...

I was at a formal event - dressed to the nines. Had on my "wonder-wig" and my "fabulous fake lashes". After 3 Martinis and whipping it all over the dance floor - my wig was sideways and one of my eyelashes was stuck on some guys cheek.

Then, there was the party where someone lighting my cigarette, caught my "way too long" acrylic fingernails on FIRE!

Ah.... the fun of fakery never ends...

Loretta, If that is you in the photo you are much younger than me. However if our paths had crossed when we were both young you would have made a great 'mate' to Dallas and myself. Laughing, drinking and no unfortunate things to be caught when doing a bit of fan-dangling!

Helen, if you mean the photo of me and the 20 different hairstyles (wigs and weaves) and on the About Me page, YEP.

Well if partying was (or is) involved... I say "Let's Get It ON!". I love the life I live and live the life I love - even at the young age of 63!

http://fauxfromheadtotoe.com/ is a blast for me because it is not [just] about making money from the site. I love letting folks know they can live "Fabulously with Faux". Why spend a DOLLAR when you can get what you want for a DIME?

My daddy used to tell me "You don't have to be a millionaire to live like one!"... He's right. I step out in my Faux furs, Mock Croc thigh high boots and "vegan" Birkins-look-alike purse and you can't tell me I don't look like somebody's celebrity! I may not have a million buck$... but you can't tell by looking at me!

Hey there... the pleasure is all YOUR's, I'm sure.

Absolutely am enjoying your http://grampamike.com/ website on Sweepstakes and contests. What a terrific niche.

How are you monetizing it? I looked but could not find any affiliate links for your revenue.

I got a story where I WON $50,000 but the prize was intercepted by the Attorney General's office of the state I resided in. Gotta read that fine print where it will tell you about where the contests/sweepstakes may be "prohibited by law". It was a big OUCH but stuff like that always teaches us something, so it's all good, right?

I will definitely be visiting your blogs... I like your writing style.

It's a business doing pleasure with you, GrampaMike!
Reply
grampamike Premium
You are right. The pleasure is all mine.

I'm saving the monetizing for later. There is an experimental affiliate link on one of the contests.

I'm in the traffic and content building stage right now.

That sucks. Lost out on 50k, huh? Oh, that darned fine print.

I won my first contest in 30 days. $50.00 Visa card ain't much but hey, it gave me a free tank of gas. Guess the fine print favors me in my state.

Take care.
Reply
tcb2015 Premium
Well let me know where I can locate the "experimental" link if the contest is still open.

I want pointers on the PCH Sweep... I plug into that every day for years now online... can't win if you don't play.

The loss was because I had to submit a "Proof of Purchase" seal with my entry form. The state did not allow any contests where a purchase had to be made to enter. Most states that have a Lottery have the same requirement.

Keep your stick on the ice, eh?

I know, I was on the Peninsula for 3 weeks. I was almost reluctant to come back, the ocean breeze kept the smoke away from Kenai. However, the pull to come home to my husband won over the inevitability of smoky days lol Even with the Card Street fire in Sterling, there wasn't the smoke in Kenai like we are having here today. At least we didn't get a bunch of new fires over the 4th weekend, people acted responsibly, which I was happy to see.

Hi. Very interesting, diverse background you have.

I took a year and a half off after an accident to travel around and use my grantwriting skills for struggling non profits, so I can especially appreciate that part of your talent. I also have done marketing working remotely for years and there is nothing like it. I agree that this is the new vehicle of our time.

Thanks for the comment about that deleted spammer. I appreciate the time you took to warn people.

Thanks much. I just reviewed your profile and see you are coming onboard "loaded for bear"! Quite a strong background you have there, my friend. Looks like I may have to be tugging at your coattail on a thing or two.

Yep, the particular member of which you speak has brought out some very intriguing variables about "the fine art of spamming" and her(?) profile is STILL posting the promotional link. Really weird that Followers are continuing to jump on that train to Spamville.

Cool. You have grantsmanship in your tools-kit. I would say we were kindred except I have always tried to avoid the "struggling" non-profits. They always seem to have deeper problems than not just having enough funding.

Thanks for the visit. Let's chat again soon. Let me know if I can help you with anything or at least steer you to someone else who can... I'm still pretty green at this stuff!

You are right on about the strugglers, hence my departure. It was a dream I felt compelled to pursue and am now much more selective about the caliber of associations I form. The addiction to handouts prevents success for the long-term "strugglers" that I've noted they stand in their own way by failing to treat volunteers and employees properly. It's unfortunate for the causes.

Thanks much for the kind words!

Very well written Loretta...as always. I hope I get to go to Alaska before I go home to be with the Lord. I have a pastor friend who has a regular mission trip to a remote tribe that "lives off the land." They actually live off the fish (king crab that you can make a steak from).

Blessings,
Jeff

Thanks Jeff. As always, you are very kind in encouraging and supporting me.

"Living off the land" is called "Subsistence" and is practiced by all Alaska's 227 federally recognized tribes in one way or another (hunting, fishing, berry / herb picking, etc.). I love that traditional Native lifestyles are fought to be preserved here. Many of my clients are tribal so I am privileged to enjoy "bush life" as much as typical city living.

The tribe you are speaking is most likely in the Southern coastal area of Alaska that see King Crabs and humongous fish like King Salmon, and Halibut (last official record weight I read was 459 pounds - you can get a lot of steaks out of that guppy). I live in Interior Alaska and love Chinook Salmon... I average 20 - 25 pounders when I go fishing.

You will LOVE Alaska and Alaska will love you when you are finally blessed to join us.

In Winnepeg it's the Dutch Elm disease by beetles. Etc, etc, etc! The greatest problem is due to the foresty going from replanting diverse forests to one species plantation type forests. There is not enough bug preditor diversity to kill these things.

One day I will do the one for cats in general. I am at work now, but I will send you the link to the website which you will love. The lady knows everything about cats, I've learned so much from her.

Look forward to getting to know a thing or two from you as well. I see how you have handled Social Media very well. Now that is where my "shy" button is pushed. 1 week on FaceBook with my site and I had some of the strangest comments and "Friend Requests"... the majority having nothing to do with my website silverandgrayhair.com. That's a work in progress for me!

I just got thru updating my theme (paid theme - Avada) which took quite a while; going to "tweak" my live posts and pages next as suggested - then on to social and new articles etc. etc. etc.

I love my "kitty cats".
They're a great de-stressor too!

I know what you mean about updating your theme - I went through 3 updates before I finally had Iconic One suggest to me (I just love it. It has every feature I need for this niche site).

... and more content, more content - that's my plan. I just enjoy taking a break now and then to connect in the community.

Hi Loretta. I haven't been by for while and just wanted to drop into your site to see how things are going. You have been making great progress, I like the ad choices that are in the right column, it isn't distracting and they seem to have a connection back to your subject of gray hair.

Also, I don;t know if this is something broken on my end or what but when I click on getting the answer for the collage of men in grey, I am sent to your EXTRAS page and clicking on "click to get answers" it takes me to a screen with only 6 of the many who you have in the collage. Also on that Extra page there is an icon for the picture it isn't opening up.

So....I hope you know I really appreciate the hard work you are putting into your site. Its a fun subject and one that can be supportive of those of us who are sporting our grey, or not. Perhaps when you check it by being in an 'incognito' window you will see the problem I found. If its working on your end please let me know so we both can be relieved. You have to be in an incognito window to see it as though you are a visitor to your site.

Hope this is helpful. Great work we'll talk again soon. Oh and yes I did leave a comment in your site too. "-)

I have been self-employed since I was 19 in one venture or another. Consulting the longest (35 yrs). I got a little spoiled with having things being done for me. This is my first time getting directly involved from flash to bang on a merchandise site.

Sites I have done were never to this degree and only required a web presence (not commercial). Example http://www.tetlincorp.com

Government and nonprofit organization stuff. WA is taking me into IM world where I have always been the consumer. I just figured it was time for me to be on the other end (LOL).

Hello Loretta! Just visited your site without a hitch. What a fun read. I think its very cool that you have a partner that can carry the other perspective of "hating" to be grey.

Everything looked great. There were a couple of typos but they weren't glaring, you had a think when it was supposed to be thing and that's the sort of thing that a spell checker won't capture. I expect you will go back and read through because you are probably a stickler for wanting the words to flow and be correct from years of doing grant write ups and such.

Keep me posted how things are going. If I don't know an answer then we will find it together in the volume of resources we have here.

At this point my battle is with being recognized on the G+ Snippet test. Not gonna let that slow me down though.

Thanks for your help.

I had some troubles with that too when I first started my quest for my website. And because it was a year ago that I hit that learning bump in the road I don't even remember what the problem was or how I fixed it.

BTW - giving some thought to switch from WP SEO package to YOAST... any thoughts? Is this a bad idea as far along as I am with my site? Is Yoast really that much of a difference?
Reply
lindasea Premium
Hmmm. I had tried that a while back and ended up removing it because of a comment I read in someones comment stream.

Hold on let me see if I can surface it.

As a punctuation to this, what I have been trying to do as I'm still going through the lessons is just keep with the recommendations that Kyle and Carson make. Sometimes someone more advanced in this development learns or recommends something but I think its safer to follow the cofounder's lead. At least until we get our sites into a status where they are more maintenance rather than development.

I'll get back with you on the Yoast question.
Reply
lindasea Premium
Here is the same question asked by another member and the comment stream to her. It all seemed very helpful.

Seo all in one or seo wordpress by yoast?

I have chosen to use the one recommended by Kyle in the lessons "AlllinOneSEO". Guess I'm a bit of a chicken "-) for trying new things in my site before I have it fully fleshed out and functioning the way it needs to be. I am still not drawing much traffic despite the fact that I believe I am offering really great content, albeit not as often and regular as I want to. Its been a struggle to get two posts out a week for me.

See what you think by following the above link.

All in One... I think I'm gonna hang with what Kyle started us out on in this training. I am only on course 3 Lesson 2. Finally getting to monetizing my site and I am soooo excited.

I am not satisfied with what is happening with me and G+ Snippet testing but I don't wanna discourage myself by going over and over a problem. Maybe I will find the answer along the way down the "yellow brick road".

Cool! Man you have been making great strides. I'm in Course 4 and Lesson 7 and hoping to finish it up by tomorrow and get on to Course 5, which Kyle was very excited about when he rolled it out.

Have you been trying the training sessions that air every Friday afternoon. I really want to attend today's lesson, its so good to see Jay back in the saddle after a scary bout with pnuemonia. Life! Many can it throw the curve balls.

Howdy Rick... well aren't you the sweetest. I guess I should add to my website on gray hair about the etiquette and chivalry that comes with the wisdom. Thank you for your compliments. Your advice is sound indeed... and I had done that very thing. I started with an email account specific to WA (thank goodness because there is much information to capture).

I have some other business doors I am committed to closing but I devote all excess time to WA. Internet marketing is new for me - but not completely foreign (as a consumer, I would say that 80% of my purchasing is done online... just about everything other than food).

I have been down a lot of rabbit holes in attempting to find the right path in this incredible field. I know it can be very lucrative for those who stay on task... I am just such a person.

Thanks so much for the Follow and it is returned.

Rick... could you review this one post of mine? I am learning about key words and not "stuffing" so I can be on the SEO good side. Please give me an honest opinion if I am on the right track or have work to do. Thanks so much. http://silverandgrayhair.com/facts-about-gray-hair

I think you have discovered a great niche with a lot of potential for affiliates. I like the look of the site, but the title was cut off after the H in hair. Don't know how to fix that - maybe a little smaller font? I especially love the tag line "gray pride". I think you can do a lot with that too. Good start!

Wow... my screen in Chrome does not show the break in the title - but when I opened in Explorer - there it is. I will take down and tweak with the size of my graphic in PhotoShop. It is very large. Thanks so much. This is so important. Thanks for your compliments.

Loretta!...where'd you get that hair girl? I'm so jealous. I have never been able to grow my hair past my shoulders. It grows up and out but not down. So, I keep it pretty short. How I love long curly hair though. By the way...welcome to WA. I have only been a member since mid December but it's a home to me already. So many terrific and interesting people to meet. We all share some common goals and we all have something to offer one another. This is a great place Loretta do have fun here. Anything I can ever help you with I sure will Just holler.

Thank you for noticing. Gray hair is a passion that I will be developing into my niche. I do all kinds of wild things with my hair. These are extensions that I braid in and curl myself. I also have my short styles as well, wigs, mine, pieces... so long as they are silver/gray - I love it. This is gonna be awesome fun... and I'm seeing there is money to be made in terrific ways here. I look forward to following along with you to learn all the stuff we need. Thanks again for the shout out.
