Feelings - Nothing more than Feelings

All the rain and weather changes we have had the last few weeks has really played havoc on my wife's Bronchitis. She was discouraged and in response I said "Honey" and with that she said "I don't feel like your honey". She has said that many times recently, and it is discouraging, but I get it. When you are hurting so bad and you don't seem to be getting better you don't feel like anything good.

"Feelings nothing more than feelings" are the first few words from an old love song by Morris Albert in 1974. Those words came to me recently, the song is a beautiful song about lost love and the struggle with feelings.

Don't let your life be determined by feelings.

I have noticed a trend lately where people make important decisions in thier life based on their feelings. I'll be honest, many times I don't feel like an internet marketing entrepreneur much less a "wealthy affiliate". And to be real honest there are times when I don't feel like a pastor.

Feelings come and go they are controlled by our emotions. Obviously if you have feelings about something and do something about what you think you feel you can change some things, but when your feelings change then you are left with the consequences of decisions based on feelings.

Let your decisions be guided by logic.

Amy Morin in an article on the Phychology Today website writes, Whether it's dating an attractive person who treats you horribly, or wasting a lot of money on a bad investment, your feelings can lead you astray if you're not careful. And the more intense the emotions, the more your judgment may be clouded. We make the best decisions when we can achieve a careful balance between emotions and logic. When your emotions run too high, your logic will be low, which can lead to irrational decisions" (4 Ways Emotions Can Screw Up Your Decisions).

Success comes to those who make wise decisions.

Ever wonder why some people achieve success quickly and others don't? You might contribute that to pure luck but I tend to believe people succeed when they make wise decisions and act on those decisions.

I remember an old saying that went something like "if you throw enough mud against the wall some of it is going to stick". Sometimes my efforts are like that I keep throwing mud hoping something will stick; someone will click on my link and buy something! But I just don't see how you can build a successful website like that.

I have learned to make wise decisions based not just on my feelings but also on logic. We need to learned to make better decisions, that will change our efforts from feeling like failure to being a success.

What you are today is based on the decisions you have made in the past. What you become tomorrow will be based on the decisions you make today. Choose to be a success and make decisions that are wise.

Hope this helps you in some way today. Don't be discouraged if you have failed in the past you can succeed in the future.

I welcome your comments and insights.

Best of success to you.

Ray

First of all, I hope your wife's health gets better soon, the point you make feels like you wrote it specially for me, as I was feeling completely discouraged about my progress here at wealthy affiliate, I have a website but I think I did everything wrong, and it took me a lot of time to do it, I don't have the means to get a computer yet, so I was doing everything on my old phone, and it was very disheartening to see I didn't do it right, based on my emotions at the moment, I was about to throw my arms up in the air and give up [at least until I can get a laptop to make it easier ] thank you for sharing them.. Wish you all the best.

Hi Mirasan, I'm in a similar situation where most of my work is also done on my phone. What I do is go to the library where its nice and quite and I work non their nice and speedy computers. It also feels a little like going to the office and helps me stay focused.
Wish you the best
Louise

Thank you Mirasan. I have had those feelings too, many times in the past. I do hope you are able to get a computer, but don't let the lack stop you. If you have a goal, don't give up on it, don't give up on yourself. Just stay faithful to your goal and keep doing the best you can. Thank you again, glad I helped, hope all the best for you in the future.

Great Idea Louise.

I love your thoughts about " don't let your life be determined by feelings" it is so true, sometimes it's difficult to have the control of the emotions we are having, and obviously lead to irrational decisions.
Important to let the emotion goes then think about making the right and wise decision!
Jacqueline

Thanks Jacqueline for your encouragement. You make a good point too we all struggle with emotions and so we do have to control them not let them control us.

Hi Ray! Good to see your post. You're right about the weather. It really seems to be effecting the emotional and physical health of a lot of people. You've given wise advice. We can get in trouble by making emotion-based decisions. It pays to gather the facts, do our research, stay true to our beliefs and values, and look at the long-term consequences of our possible decisions.

I hope your wife feels better soon. :)
Blessings!
Colleen

Thank you Colleen. You are so right.

I think this is very true. I have had a lot of turmoil lately and prior to joining WA, I had signed up with the RRR group. Next I joined SBI with the intent of doing research for posting reviews. So now I have three web programs all at the same time with no possible way to work all of them.
Do you think these were bad decisions, I surely do.
So please everyone take this for what its worth.
Thanks Ray:
Wayne

Hi Wayne. Glad it gave you some insight. I don't know enough about those other sites, so l couldn't say they were good or bad. Look at it this way, hopefully you have learned something from them, use them as stepping stones. Then move forward and stick with the training here all the way through. WA is not a get rich quick scheme. With consistent effort and time you can achieve success.

Great post. So true, wise decisions are so important.
Hope your wife feels better soon. Take care.

Nida

Thanks Nida, glad it inspired you.

Great article Ray. A lot of great wisdom in just a few words.

“ What you are today si based on the decisions you made in the past. What you become tomorrow will be based on the decisions you make today.” This has found its way to a sticky note on my office bulletin board as a daily reminder.

Barry

P.S. Give Mrs. Ray an extra hug of health.

Thanks Barry glad it helped. She is doing better the last few days. It takes time so requires patience, God is teaching me about that. Blessings.

God sure teaches us about patience in so many ways

Barry

Great Post Ray it really has hit home because I have been sick a lot in these last 6 months and I am just getting back to my old self at least I think I am.

I have gone through so many changes I can't even keep up but you are so right we do make decisions on feelings and sometimes that is the only way we know how to make decisions.

Well let me say it this way right, wrong, indifferent we all have to live with those decisions we make. It is just human nature that is how God made us was with free will.

Mary

Glad it encouraged you Mary. I know you have had a hard time for a while too. My heart goes out to all who suffer. That post has been brewing in my mind for a week or two. I really should post more often but that is the past. Praying for you too.

Thank you so much yes but I am bouncing back slowly and just taking my time. I don't post as much as I should but I haven't been working that much either but like you said that is a thing of the past.

Mary

Great post Ray. I hope your wife feels better soon. I, myself, live in constant and severe chronic pain along with fibromyalgia and I just had my 15th and 16th surgery this past year and if it wasn't for my fiance I would be helpless. So hang in there and give her all the help you can.

Danny

Wow, you know we never realize what people are going through. I have been trying and she is getting better, thanks. Hope is a great motivator. Hang onto hope.

Oh I do

YESSSSS!!

YOU ARE GREAT!!!

GOD BLESS!!

THEO

Thank you Theo. I don't know about the "great" part but I appreciate the encouragement.

I hope your wife gets better! Hold her! As a fellow sufferer of chronic pain, it helps to just have someone care.
