When Will I Finally Start Getting Somewhere?

Okay, this post is going to be a little random. I'd just like to share some thoughts on my first two weeks here, and get some feedback if I'm lucky enough. :)

My first impression is that this is a friendly place full of people who want to succeed. There is information and instruction, as well as lots of helping hands available. I'm happy, and I want to stick around for a long time.

I just noticed that the days are flying by though, and I want to accomplish so much more by month's end. The problem is I'm a slow worker: I take my time. My attention is also spread out over several areas of life. Finally, I make lots of excuses (as you can see lol). I make the most excuses when it's time to write. I had to really psych myself up for this post. So wish me luck guys....

I'm also wondering......How was your first month at WA? How do you psych yourself up to keep writing? How much time should I devote to my websites each day?

jatdebeaune gave you great advice. I can only add that when you write an article, pick one specific point about the topic and write about that one point. Don't try to fit everything you know or learn about it into one article, page, or post. This way it isn't so daunting and it gives you lots of various things to write about for other articles and posts. And they only have to be around 400 words. (There are about 75 in this paragraph so far...see? not so much! )

For example let's say your talking about red-eared slider turtles (I have one as a pet so... :)

One article/post/or page about each of the following topics:

What they eat
Their habitat
Filtering their water (they are semi-aquatic)
Water temperature and why it's important
The proper lighting needed (UVA/UVB) and why
Why it needs a turtle dock
Water conditioning
Why calcium is important for a red eared slider
The difference between a turtle and a tortoise
Good hygiene when handling because they carry salmonella

There are 10 possibilities right here!

Almost all of these are wide open for affiliate products thru Amazon and all can be separate topics for different articles, pages, and posts. And each would be easy to write 400 words about with a little research.

Pick your topic and make an outline
Intro paragraph
1st Point
2nd Point
3rd Point
Ending paragraph

And there you have it.

I probably wrote close to 250 words right here! :)

Hope this helps...

Definitely helps Renni :) Thanks so much. Adding this info to my notes!

If you haven't written much in the past, then the idea of writing articles is daunting. Remember, it's only a matter of getting
confidence in yourself and devising a plan that works for you. Structure your efforts. Start by making notes, then do research. Decide the main point of your article, then play to it. Find a quiet comfortable place to write. Take your laptop or pen and paper, whatever works best for you, and write your thoughts. Then take your thoughts and organize them into a cohesive article. State your purpose in the first paragraph, and restate it in the last paragraph. Use your primary keyword (title keyword) in your first paragraph, if you can. At least include it in your second paragraph plus your last paragraph. Don't force keywords. Above all, have fun. With practice, it gets easier, just like everything.

Do something everyday. Before you know it, you'll be well entrenched in your new IM business. Don't be hard on yourself. It's a process and you'll get there. Be sure to ask questions along the way
.

Wow thanks! I love WA for practical advice like this! Everything is simple, direct, and to the point. "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough." -Albert Einstein. I'm saving this comment. Thanks again.

the quote I like is
" the best thing about being your own boss is being your own boss.
the worst thing about being your own boss, is being your own boss"!!

I totally get it...and some people are better bosses than others too.

Great one! It's a different mindset.

yes, indeed. you have to have the discipline to do what a "boss" would make you do, when you know you could getaway with not doing it, as you are the boss!

Everybody pretty much has the same questions in the beginning, heck I've been on here like 4 years already and haven't nearly got to where I would like to be. Most of the reason I have stayed on WA is because they constantly stay relevant to the IM industry and people here are all very helpful. The information resources have been always top notch but now with Jaaxy and this website layout, it's one of a kind to me. My advice: even if you feel like your moving slow just stay consistent. I really wish I would've been all this time but I can only go forward. If you need help on anything just ask. If I can't help I'll tell you who to ask. Welcome to WA.

Thanks Fortune3, I will make a sincere effort to be consistent.
