Bing and Yahoo Love My Hurricane Post but Google Does Not

I wrote a new post on my website last night with an extensive list of evacuation shelters on the east coast of Florida that accept pets as well as other information for people that want to help pets in the affected area through rescue groups.

It is arranged by county, north to south so someone in the area could easily find shelters in their area where they can escape with their pets. Pets are very vulnerable in these storms since many shelters do not accept pets and rescue groups simply don't have the capacity to take them either.

It is interesting that my post when straight to #1 on Bing and Yahoo and has stayed there. On Google it started at about rank 65 and is now somewhere around 75! I wonder if this somehow falls into the Google Medic update criteria that include health and money issues? Is this why I am banished to the doldrums on page 7 of the search results in Google?

The post does not have a single affiliate link. It has way too many links for general SEO purposes but my goal is to give people the infomation they need so I am not expecting this to be a long lasting, money making post.

I am finding this more and more. Posts that used to start somewhere on the first several pages of the search results on Google would now be much lower. Bing and Yahoo love them though.

I still have #1 position posts on Google but not as many as I used to and those ones are much older posts.

Anyway, I hope everyone in the affected area is safe and healthy and weathering out the storm.

Hey Hey,

Jessica, I am so happy to see you back as an Ambassador where you belong. Woo Hoo!!.

Yes Google seems to be not wanting to help save people so it seems. You would think that they would rank it on first pages. I guess they don't think peoples safety is important enough maybe. Who knows with Google and what they are up to nowadays.

Bing is the new Google. I never use Google as a search engine. I have always used Bing.

I use Bing for searches on an article I want to write and I also use Google but just for that.

I do hope everyone is safe too.
Sending my thoughts to those who are affected.

Thank you Jessica for an awesome post. Keep us updated if the rank for your post starts to near page 1. It would be interesting to know.

Debs :)

"Bing is the new Google." Love that Debs.

I've begun to have some serious doubts about Google (political bias, alleged abuse of power, etc) and have started looking for alternatives.

I like the Brave browser and Duck Duck Go, but will take a deeper look at Bing. Thanks for the info.

Hi Jessica,
I know this may be a disappointment to you, but the information you provided will be available and useful for people for days, weeks and months to come. Don’t look at it as short term information. If someone loses their home to fire, or any one of a number of things that can interfere with normal life this will be a great resource.
You could even consider submitting it as an article to a FL state tourism magazine or website...someone might be willing to pay for the time and research you’ve done.
Just my 2 cents!
KyleAnn

Thank you KyleAnn. That certainly wouldn't be a disappointment to me!

I have added some information for North and South Carolina as well and will add Georgia if I can.

I have learned a lot too. Airbnb has started a program just for displaced people to get free housing through their platform. People can offer up their homes (even if they were not part of Airbnb before) and people looking for places to stay can get matched up on the Airbnb new website for this program! How amazing is that!

I have website links and contact information on my post.

It's hard to know what Google is 'thinking' sometimes. Jim

Yes, I agree.

Glad you went straight to page 1 on Bing and Yahoo. Great blog that can help pets.

Thank you.

Sometimes after a few days or weeks it can still go up the ranks. Great that the post is all the way up there on Yahoo and Bing, the info is going to help so many pets. :-)

Thank you. I hope it can helps pets.

Congrats on the #1 rankings. Google is like Fbook. They just want to make money off of it.

Mark

I guess. It is such a shame that is what they are turning into!

Disaster Management should be strong to minimize the affect.

Yes. Thanks.
