Beautiful Thanksgiving inspires me to get my dream home!

We had a beautiful Thanksgiving! We went to the home of my husband's family friends. They live only 10 minutes from us in a house that looks like a Christmas card outside with dormers upstairs and trees all around covered in snow and bird feeders. They have dogs that have run the Iditarod and Yukon Quest. They collect dogs and provide a retirement home for them. They had about 6 huskies in the house when we came. They are all perfectly behaved. They don't bark, don't jump and are very friendly but always extremely gentle. I never thought about this before, but that is one reason I like huskies. They don't slobber, scratch or bowl you over inside. They are large and strong but very delicate and gentle in their movements.

As many of you know, I grew up with a dog team myself.

One kept nudging her snout under my arm and just looked up at me silently. Others were loving my husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law. They get to go outside and then all race back in. They run occasionally in the team just for fun but otherwise are normal pets.

The dinner was a very traditional, large Thanksgiving feast. It was so nice to be a guest and just bring a few dishes but not have to cook and clean everything. The house is large and filled with Alaskan artwork, photos of bears up close the owner took himself, and signed Iditarod prints since they know all the mushers. They volunteer for the Iditarod also and are dog handlers during the race. They also take care of mushers teams.

This perfect Thanksgiving setting made me want a "real" house...rather than the apartment we are in now since we bought the 4-plex. They have a greenhouse and keep bees as well as having the sled dog yard, all of which are tucked in the tall trees.

This house will be for sale in the spring! I wish we could afford it but I know it will be out of our price range...and it is huge. Way larger than we need. Someday I will have that though! Someday. I just need to keep my priorities in focus, work hard and make it happen!

Someday I will have the Christmas Card house to entertain guests, have my pets and gardens and be happy!

I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving or just a good day if you don't live in the U.S. and have Thanksgiving!

Cheers!

Good Morning Jessica,

Thanks for this nice story. To have ones dreamhouse is very nice but it is a lot of work, day after day and year after year. I have been living in my farmhouse since 1981 and I can tell you I have worked hard. At the moment there is a lot of garden work to be done, still no rain so the drip system was put back on the orange field.
Have a great weekend.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Hi Taetske. Yes, I know. Compared to how I grew up though it would still feel like a breeze in some ways. It has running water and electricity! You don't have to build trails and harvest trees and limb them, cut them, stack them and split them just to keep warm in this house! You also can just turn on the sink and the water comes out. We had running water but it was our own system that required going down to the creek to turn the solar panels every few hours or using a gas pump.

We also had an electric system Dad build so we eventually had a refrigerator/freezer, but not when I was really young. We also had no regular telephone and no TV...everything was different.

Glad you had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends Jessica. The place you describe sounds really awesome. I’m sure one day you will get the dream home that you wish for.
Jerome

Thanks Jerome!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and sorry we dont celebrate Thanksgiving in Italy. A few do but the rest of us its a normal day. keep dreaming and the house of your wish is all yours..

I moved in a house I always dreamt of when I first came to Italy..Alot of Italians came to ask my now landlord If they could have the house..I was sick by then..She refused and kept telling everyone I am keeping it for Cindy when she gets better . I had even forgotten about how much I dreamt to have the house but story short..She gave the house to me and my dream came true..I really love the house..So dream..and your dream may just come true..

Wow! Good for you! That is wonderful. Thank you.

May all your dreams come true.
Trevor

Thank you Trevor.

I looked up the assessed value of the house. It is over $500,000. It is not fancy just a nice, old fashioned house but our prices are expensive here...this isn't even in the city.

So nice to have you back Tania!! I don't have any at the moment because my phone memory has been topped off for ages. I delete stuff but it still doesn't work. I have heard Apple does this intentionally to make us get new phones!
