Only buy a domain name through WA

Hi everyone,

Well, live and learn. Especially for all the newbies out there, some important information. Buy your domain through WA. I bought a domain through another company, and when I went to transfer it to WA, they did not want to give me a authorization code, which I needed to give to WA, because the rule is, I have to wait 60 days from the date I bought or transferred the domain. Well, that won't fly with me, I can't wait 60 days to get my website up. After 25 minutes of chatting back and forth, they decided to give me my money back to my debit card (within 10 days) minus a 99 cent fee (ok) but I got my domain name back immediately. So tonight, when I get back home on real internet, and not this hotspot, I will buy my name from WA and set up my website. I should have done that in the first place, but now I know.

Also, start reading affiliate bootcamp before you do anything. I did not do that, I just jumped in. I am reading it now, it is full of great information.

Thanks and have a successful day!

Thanks for the advice Susie.

Thaniks for sharing that Susie. if you already have the domain it is one thing. But for a new domain you want to host here it is much easier to make the domain purchase at WA.

I know you are going to love the domain experience here at WA through SiteDomains. You simply buy your domain and upon purchasing, it is ready to go. You can literally have a website up in 60 seconds after purchasing your domain, a service you cannot find anywhere else. ;)

Not to mention EVERYTHING is included with your domains here at WA, from whois privacy, security and protection, emails, and next year price guarantee. :)

Kyle, can you clarify which TLDs can be registered through SiteDomains? Someone (sorry, I forget who) wanted to transfer a co.uk domain here but couldn't do it.

I'm sorry you had to go through all that Susie, but thanks for blogging about it though, because it's an excellent reminder for me to just go through the process and not jump around with all the ideas that keep flashing through my head.

The 60-day waiting period is an ICANN rule that applies to all registrars.

Besides, you do not need to transfer your domain registration to WA to build your site. At your current registrar, set what are called "DNS settings" to point to WA's servers. The addresses to use are ns1.mywahosting.com and ns2.mywahosting.

I put those addresses in there, but I could not get it to work. Our tech support said I needed that code to go any further which name cheap would not give me. I decided it was easier to start over with WA

I just noticed this post, but I have purchased over a dozen domain names from namecheap and never had an issue changing the DNS settings... Not sure why you had this experience :(
