Finally Getting Over That Hurdle

Well I have finally done it! That void I spoke about before is no more. I finally got a domain and set it up for hosting. I still have a long way to go in building my site, but this is an accomplishment for me. I love Wealthy Affiliate. I could kick myself for stalling all this time. There is so much information and great people who want to help others here. This is the best!!

Trying to come up with a website name is like trying to find a creative name for your child or pet. You don't want to give it a boring name - you need to be creative with it. I don't know if I've done that - I hope I have. I like it and I guess that's what matters.

Now I'm left with the task of building my site for public view. This is so exciting! The Internet, of course, has tons of websites and so much information and it's so cool now to be officially part of that world instead of just being a viewer.

I just wanted to share my excitement in getting over my hurdle (aka - void for me). Thanks Kyle and Carson for this website and to all who are on here offering help in any way they can.

Sorry for not answering straight back, but I have built an offline business from online work and dont get through all my emails in a week.

The number one reason why i suggest taking your name in regards to working in IM is that it prevents other marketers pretending to be you and creating bad credibility. If your building an online business, that is not in IM then dont worry. But as I see it, in IM there are a lot of good people and there are a lot of bad people trying to take a piece of your success pie. You dont have to have a site built or even hosted, just sit on the name. Domain names are so cheap, register it for 10 years, and then if you need it you have it, not like some who build their name up as an authoriy person, and then find someone else has the domain name.

The other reason why i would recommend it is, for instance. Big internet marketers, like mike filsaime, and even my self. You build a blog about you, what your doing, offers or reviews to affiliate products, what every you want. And then you have your other sites, like your business page, with its products and services.

For instance, this is what i have to give you some scope. I run a web design business, so I have a website for that. I have a blog on that webpage which promotes my goods and services to my offline clients. I also own and run a webhosting reseller company part of the backbone for my webdesign business. I am building a blog on that that suggests about web design, and promotes my web design goods and services. I also am building a Mobile site Design Website. To automate, the mobile design part of my business. And I have my own name.com so I can do IM. I can write whatever i feel like here. I can do reviews on affiliate offers, marketing tips, etc. and can also link to my goods and services. But my offline clients, dont need to see all that stuff, so keeping it seperate, builds different parts of my overall business plan. And ultimately I build my business name and my name.

I hope this is of use to you. Good Luck.

UPDATE: I told my husband this weekend that I made a website but that I had not put any content in it yet. He thought that was the coolest thing and could not get over that I had done this. It made me feel good!

keep it up girl we are all cheering you on good luck

Getting your website setup for the first time is a huge achievement, well done! Typically, technology scares people and the word "website" seems highly technical when it's really just a few steps to get a site up and running. Once you do it the first time, you can do it 1000x more with ease!

You've taken action and completed a task that ultimately is the CORE of your online business. Building your site by publishing content on it is the fun part, and I'd love for you to keep us in the loop with how things go Susanna.

Thank you for sharing your excitement with us... enthusiasm is contagious :)

Carson

Good for you. It's so scary learning things you've never done before, feeling lost, and not knowing what you're doing, but when it clicks, and it works, it's such an accomplishment and a thrill. Keep it up, and keep those good feelings coming..

Congratulations! It's downhill from here. :)

Just decide on doing, and don't try to be perfect. Think of your project as a prototype and it's only going to get better.

If you're stuck ask questions and take action!
Keep doing and shut down your email and don't get distracted.

Good Luck!

Kal

Glad you made it over the hurdle. looking forward to watching you grow!

Well done, it is a great feeling isn't it. Many, perhaps most of us have been there and got the T as they say. Doubtless it may happen again,at some stage in your business development, but you now have this experience to fall back on and it will be easier going forward,
Regards
Hudson.

Well done. It was an exciting time when i did that too, two years ago. Just remember that you can have more than one url name pointing to your site if you want another way to find your site. For instance I have my company name and my personal name registered and they both point to my company's website. Why? Firstly it prevents someone taking my name. And secondly it allows me to pickup extra traffic to the site.
Again well done.

Thanks. But unless you are famous or have an official business that reflects "you" for what purpose would you create a website that has your name? I cannot imagine what I would even put on my website with my name. Thoughts?
