OH BUT HECK NO!

MY MISSION TO AVOID 1AND1 SPAM HAS FREAKED THEM OUT!!

So I didn't learn. My last blog about 1AND1 was regarding the inundation of spam on the phone AND the email after buying domains there. EVERYONE told me to go elsewhere. However I JUST DIDN'T WANT TO HAVE MORE PLACE FROM WHICH TO MANAGE DOMAINS. I already have these idiots and GoDaddy. So I went back for more.

Two days ago I placed an order, and forgot about it..THEY HAVE OBVIOUSLY SPAMMED SO MANY TIMES THAT THEIR EMAILS EVEN END UP IN MY SPAM!! I just found THIS GARBAGE laying in there!

GET THIS:

Dear Customer ID: *******,

Thank you for placing an order with 1&1 Internet Inc.
We need your assistance (TO MAKE A PURCHASE???? PLEASE!!! BECAUSE YOU CAN'T GET ME TO PICK UP THE PHONE I GAVE YOU SO YOU CAN SPAM MY STUPID BUTT AGAIN? REALLY?) in verifying your account information in order to successfully activate your account. 1&1 requires all accounts to be verified in order to ensure security for all of our customers. (NO THEY DON'T! THEY SURE DIDN'T BEFORE. THE SPAM CALLS NEVER EVEN LEAVE A MESSAGE... THEY JUST RING YOUR PHONE OFF THE HOOK FOR A FEW DAYS. WHAT HOOEY. THEY NEEDED NOTHING FOR MY ACCOUNT BEFORE THIS! WHAT THEY NEED IS TO GET PAID BY THEIR IRRITATING SPAMMERS SO THEY NEED YOU TO PICK UP THE PHONE WHICH I HAVE BLOCKED!!) We can verify your account by either of the two methods below:
Within the next 5 days, contact us by phone at 1-877-206-4253 or +1 (610) 560-1459 for international customers, from the same number provided to us during the order process. You can reach us Monday-Friday from 9AM-5PM Eastern Time. Please have your Customer ID number available when you call.
OR
Within the next 5 days, provide proof of identity for the business name and the business account holder by means of fax or e-mail. The following forms of identification are required:

1 of the following from the business:
- Business Registration Documents
- Articles of Incorporation

- Tax Documents (?????! SERIOUSLY??????!)

1 of the follow from business account holder:
- Driver's License
- Passport (???? HAHAHAHAHA !!!!!!! O.M.G.)

- National ID
- Immigration Visa
- Military ID

, or .PDF

Other forms of ID will be reviewed and accepted at 1&1’s discretion. If your ID is issued by a country other than the country used as the billing address for this account, please provide proof of your current address (personal or business) as well, such as a utility bill.
This documentation is solely for the purpose of account verification and is not shared, sold or distributed by 1&1 Internet Inc, its parent, subsidiaries or any other associate companies for any other purposes.
If you have any questions regarding this process, we are available by phone at 1-877-206-4253 or +1 (610) 560-1459 for international customers, from 9AM-5PM Eastern Time. Please have your Customer ID number available when you call.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely,
Security Team (SECURITY = SPAM ACCOMMODATION TEAM!!!)

Hi SupportWorx, from what you've told us, this definitely sounds like a spoof. I would expose them and I'm sure Kyle can help you to do that. If you PM him about this. He does this all the time. We all have to be so careful. There are 30,000 Scammers a day hacking websites and hurting people and cyber crooks are growing in numbers faster then we can keep up! Remember, there is safety in numbers so we can all help to expose these creatures and make a difference. If I can be of help please let me know, Sharon:)

Hi Sharon... Kyle hasn't had time to address the last thing you suggested I ask... about what we use our WA blogs for, so I don't really feel comfortable piling something else on him. If you would like to bring this to his attention I think that would be amazing. If there's any way not to have to delete my sites and lose my domains I would love it, but honestly it's such a pain I would literally be willing to do that rather than to deal with these idiots daily until its resolved... OR NOT lol

-Alexx

Hi Alexx, I hear your frustration, there are some good comments below that are very supportive and good advice. May I suggest two things that may help you out:) 1. On your profile page at the top is Ask a Question, this will go out to the forum and you will get more answers. 2. Try, live Chat, there's so many knowledgeable people on there. I just thought of one more place you can try to get help. At the top of the page where you log in is the Support button that's Website support from the Technical People. Let me know how this goes. It may take a few hours for the Ask a Question or you may get an answer right away, but keep checking. Sharon:) Keep smiling we won't let you drown:)

Thanks for the support Sharon. I'm just waiting to see what the company does today, assuming they actually work. Monday isn't a day I want to be doing a battle anyway. I've decided there is no way I'm sending any ID to them, and if they don't unlock the account so I can transfer my domains this week I will just adjust my sites accordingly. This has inspired me to really punch up a BEWARE page on my affiliate site... and call it a day! I abhor drawn out negativity. THX again. -Alexx

Your Welcome Alexx, Perhaps you should do a Review on them and post it! :) Have a good evening. Sharon:)

Yes perhaps I will S! -Alexx

First rule.
If you did not contact them, do nothing with them.
If you do not know them personally, o nothing with them.

If they are reputable, check and double check .. see their track record.
what have they produced??
=--------------------------------------------------------------
NEVER Give any PII out. ( Personal Identifiable Info)

Second rule.
Trust no one ..EXCEPT your Lord and savior; Your Maker

I've been using GoDaddy for 14 years and never had a problem with them. They automatically give me discounts :) because I'm a good customer.

Lol
1and1.com or 1and1.co.uk?
laughing my hindquarters off and wish youd posted sooner
5 days ago i was suckered and purchased 3 domains (buy 2 get 1 free and all up something less than £5)
With 1and1.co.uk
the nightmare began
as soon as i pressed purchase my money was gone but no domains , no thanks, no Here's a receipt nothing. This is after pressing the huge instant domain registration button.
1 day later nothing (apart from emails or spam from other companies telling me the domains i wanted were still available - how they new i dont know unless perhaps 1and1.co.uk are also. Coms etc )
Then came exactly same email u describe
wanting verified proof of evetytime i went to the toilet
being that im in a make shift iron hut on the ocean front fending off bloody monkey invaders my reply to their email was probably not as gentlemanly as it could have been and told tjem what id like to do if we ever met
suddenly i hit an email thanking me for verifying my documents !,,, hello?.. i never sent anything
3 days later still notjing working and helpful helpdesk (i lie....rude rude rude)sugessted i jyst wait another 48 hours 5 days to get a domain? So they are pointed at namecheap and 5 days on i can actually use them except im too busy avoiding bloody 1and1 phoning me and costing me roaming charges . ...hello sir are you happy with our service and would you like more

Wheres that monkey. ..im gonba shove it somewhere

WOW! Well it was .com for me. I have bought a few domains there previously. I wonder if they just sold out or something? Hey, just for my amusement I would love if you could PM me what you told them! LOL.

People really need to find a legitimate way to put gruel on the table, ya know? -Alexx

Hilarious if it wasn't so perverse. I had a similar experience with LinkedIn about a year ago. I had been a member for several years before I retired. I had not used it for quite a while when I suddenly began getting e-mails from old friends asking me to visit them on that site. I could not remember the e-mail I used several years ago although I might be able to guess that but I absolutely had no idea what password I had used back in the day. When I contacted them and and asked for help, they sent me an e-mail saying that they could possibly do something if I sent them a copy of my driver's license with photo, a current selfie, and a copy of a document verifying that I own my house. Needless to say, I have no interest in doing anything like that. The funny thing is that since they have never seen me, how could they identify me by any of those documents. Sounds like you're up against the same thing. Hope that you can get away from 1&1 which seems to be setting you up to scam you in new in different ways as well as continuing what they are already doing.

1

OH MY GOSH! Isn't that crazy to get a request like that? OF COURSE THEY DON'T HAVE A CLUE WHO YOU ARE! I always had a vague bad gut feeling about LinkedIn and have never used it. It's a good basic concept but I was put off in the beginning for reasons I don't really remember. I worked with attorneys for umpteen years and they can complicate things ad nauseum so I guess I got a snootful of this stuff then, but really... simple things should just BE SIMPLE. I would respect them more if they came right out and said, "Hey, to keep our prices low we need to market you near to death, so if we can't reach you by phone we really suck it!" lol Instead of that they need to VERIFY FOR SECURITY REASONS. Do they really think we web people don't talk to each other? I plan to move the domains I have there in time. Meanwhile, just having a fit over this has given them WAY too much of my time! HAHAHA! -Alexx

Hey Alexx -

I'm half with GoDaddy and half with NameCheap (long story) - and no problems to speak of with either.

Yes, they did push every upsell in the world at me when I purchased a domain name, but once I wrapped up the purchase, everything settled down. Now I just get the occasional "30% OFF!" email, but I've not been inundated.

Pointing the nameservers to my host was uneventful as well.

Uneventful is good!

Dennis

Yeah D, uneventful rocks lol -Alexx

1

I just re-read this and wanted to say, I don't mind expected upsells. It's the totally unrelated spam from 3rd parties they are doing these days, including repeated phone hang ups for days, I find so outrageous and much atrocious PR. I think they are partying down on a previously innocuous rep. -Alexx

1

No problems with the upsells here either Alexx.

I just sooo appreciate a clean checkout. I came to get Product A, I take it off the shelf, go to the cashier, and I'm gone.

No muss, no fuss.

I can dream!

Dennis

Haha you dreamer! -Alexx

That is surprising, sounds like real spam to me.

1

Oh yeah, W! -Alexx

Wow! May I kindly suggest namecheap? They won't even ask for a blood sample. :)

1

HAHAHA MICHELLE! GOOD ONE! I just quickly went to cheapdomain.com. They were $8.99 plus only $1.95 privacy. MAD COOL. -Alexx
