Opening new paths: my first post on Medium
This 2024 has been a year in which I opened NEW PATHS:
- I created my first website on WA for my business Suomiifabrics (my site has reached first page on Google, actually in 4th position for my main keyword, and generating already sales - launched in end of June)
- I opened my profile on Fiverr as Illustrator freelancer and created my first Gig (the gig created one month ago is receiving views but no orders. I need to understand the environment in Fiverr, which by the way has one of the worst customer support ever!!!)
- I launched my Etsy shop for my artworks (my main goal is to be fine art artist in the best galleries, but I need to understand better the art dynamics so my Etsy shop is also a test to acquire more knowledge about those!)
- I started studying abstract painting and preparing for the first International Competition (Fabriano Watercolor) in the first days of January
Today I opened my Medium account and posted my first story!
I decided to become a member to maximize my opportunities. Like a patient farmer, I am planting my seeds and I am excited to see how these seeds will grow into beautiful plants in the next year!
If you want to read my first Medium post, here is the link!
I just want to thank all the WA community: you always inspire me with to TAKE ACTIONS for my future!

Hey Romy, it looks like you are a talented artist. I have subscribed to your Medium profile to get your articles in my inbox. Your shop is new and there are quite a few things you can improve to enhance your sales.
yes dear, you are right, my Etsy shop needs a lot of work and improvements! I have scheduled some spots in my week to work on it!
Anyway, there is a big dilemma in the Fine Art World: the artist cannot sell its own works. At least, those artists whose ambitious is to be in most important collections in the world.
I am in the early stages of my artistic career so I am still figuring out if I have to keep my Etsy shop or not (for the former artistic world is a big NO), but I have decided to keep it, maybe just removing my name from it.
Anyway, I am looking for an art manager who can deal for me, so I can focus on doing art :)
Larry, welcome to the WA family! That's the main lesson you will learn here: study and IMPLEMENT, right away! If you need any help, I am here!

Good morning Romy,
It's great that you are planting seeds, as this is a great way to explain your online journey, Romy. I always think it's interesting when someone like yourself documents that journey, as we can learn so much.
Over the past 12 months, there have been quite a few posts about posting on Medium, I must admit it's something that I haven't tried yet. I'm quite a fan of LinkedIn, but I don't use it as much as I should; I also believe that similar results can probably be achieved on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a platform that I will be using more. But it will be interesting to see how you get on with Medium, Romy.
I particularly like and agree with your last sentence! Bravo to that!
Have a fantastic Sunday.
Roy
yeah Roy, I am becoming so good in planting seeds that maybe I will switch carrier as a professional farmer! Lol!!!
I am exploring Medium and understand the strategies the most successful writers are applying! Very soon I will write a post about it!
I agree on the relevance of Linkedin! It will be my next focus once that Medium will start working well!
I must admit I had a small time of rejection for WA (mainly after the Black Friday offer which excluded all the premium members and I expressed my disappointment very clearly to Kyle in some posts), but...I am not here to complain or to act as a victim, because I know the power of having a strong community at my back.
So, evenif I am not always agreeing with some WA's choices, I take all the benefits of it and try to give something back to these wonderful supportive people as you are Roy!
Happy Sunday, dear!!|
Good morning Romy,
Seed planting is a term that's used a lot, but it's great terminology, as exactly what farmers do and what we have to do in business! Even though we may not be professional farmers!
That will be good to hear how you get on with Medium, everything takes time.
I will start to use LinkedIn more; about a year ago or maybe 18 months I was using LinkedIn more, however, I gradually slipped away, which is my fault. I believe that LinkedIn is a highly underestimated platform.
I understand where you are coming from, Romy; some things are difficult. However, I do believe that the team at Wealthy Affiliate are trying to do the right thing. I think my premium plus membership works out at about £1.20 a day, which, considering I am on the platform almost every day, that's not bad. But at the same time, I appreciate that we all have a budget to work to.
Have a great day.
Roy
