Listening at faster speed to podcasts and video interviews

Here's something odd: I was told that if I speeded up any podcasts that I listened to, I would remember more because I had to concentrate on the words more. Guess what, it works and I now speed everything up, WhatsApp chats etc

The only problem now is that I'm finding that watching TV with hubby is quite hard as the conversation is too slow.

Next, I guess I'll be telling friends to talk more quickly.

I really wonder what I have unleashed in my brain. Have any of you experienced this? I'd love to know!

Hi Sue.
As a blind person I do this everyday with anything, wherever possible. Like you I do struggle to adapt to normal speed viewing sometimes.

Thankfully as a Therapist I don't seem to get frustrated with normal speed conversations though!

Glad you found a good productivity hack and thanks for sharing your experience with it.

Continued success.

Yes I can understand that you do, my brother is blind and he has his screen reader working quite quickly but he hasn't adopted podcasts at a faster speed. I guess he has his reasons. I'm pleased you don't expect your clients to speak faster 😉😂 Lovely to be connected and thank you for your much appreciated comnent 😊

Accelerating your listening speed to improve retention is a clever trick! It's amazing how our brains adapt. Adapting to slower conversations afterward must be an interesting challenge. Keep exploring! 🚀🧠

I learned speed reading years ago and it has been an amazing skill. People are always keen to prove that I haven't read the text properly and absorbed it but they've not as yet bee able to prove it 🤣

I have played back tapes at twice the speed over the years and am convinced it helps me learn skills faster. It is best to be persistent because most individuals have to change a belief strongly held in the conscious and subconscious (from their own upbringing and education). It is a challenge to change those beliefs as an 80 year old, but well worth the effort.

So I must be on the right track, I've just tried twice the speed and I think my ears could easily get used to it. Great to know I'm on the right track. Thank you for your comment. If you have any more tips I'd love to here about them as time seems to just race away nowadays 😉
