How to Create Your Google Account Right with the Future in Mind

Whether you have a Google Account or not, I recommend doing a little thinking about the future.

When you're just starting out there's so much to think about and learn that you often don't know what you don't know.

While your success is not assured, it's likely... IF you persevere through the challenges because with persistence, success will come.

With that in mind, I invite you to think a little bit about the future now, in the beginning.

Why?

Because, if you set up your Google accounts correctly, if you ever decide to sell or transfer ownership things will go much more smoothly.

You are Your Most Valuable Brand

Another thing to consider when doing business online is that social is not an option, it's a necessity.

That means that as your site builds authority, so will you as an influencer within your niche.

Often, your personal authority may outshine your business brand.

With that in mind, while your business may not last forever, your personal brand will stay with you from project to project.

You may sell your business, but it's unlikely you'll ever sell your personal brand.

Each niche you start will actually get easier if you work on building your personality as a brand because you'll be able to capitalize on your notoriety with your future projects.

Don't Stress About it too Much

I don't tell you this to stress you out, or to give you one more thing to think about.

I tell you this only because if you've not yet built your Google accounts for your business, then it does not take that much more time to do it right and maintain a healthy separation.

Let me say that another way:

If you already have your accounts set up, don't start over. But if you have yet to build your business based Google accounts, then it takes very little effort to "do it right".

As always, moving forward and keeping your content flowing MUST be priority number 1 because doing something is always better than doing nothing.

Hi,
I already have a google account so now I don't know what to do. Should I create another one so I have two? I've only just today got to the part in the WA training where I have to start using my google account (which I already had set up from years ago). Now I'm confused

Hi,
I'm sure that this post will help you find your answer: http://www.swensonbookdevelopment.com/blog/2013/do-i-really-need-two-email-addresses-yes-heres-why-you-need-3/
Kind regards

Hi Stafanie,

Sorry for the delayed response, I'm currently on the road and my ability to connect has been sketchy.

The gist is that you need to be focusing on you as your own brand, as well as your business.

If you already have one and it's dedicated to your business, continue using that and create one for yourself.

If this is a personal account you've had for years then you can continue using that for your personal brand, and create a new one for your business.

All that said, if this is indeed a "friends and family" type account. You may want to create two new ones, one devoted to you professionally (as a brand), and one devoted to your business while keeping your "friends and family" account personal and private.

Many don't like to use their personal (non-professional) accounts as a public forum because your public accounts should be just that, public.

Meaning all your posts should be available to the general populace.

Let me know if you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

Hi,
Sorry, I don't know your name but I really appreciate you taking the time getting back to me. As you can tell I am very new to this.

So if you could just help me with one more thing, I had a google account set up from years ago which I have never used, so I have just been using that right now and I only have followers so far from WA as I am not very far into the training. Do you think I should use this one as my business one and create another for my brand?
And what is the difference between the two?

Thanks again for your time :)

My name is James. Don't worry Stefanie everyone was new once. :)

Go ahead and use that one for your business, you can create another one for your personal brand later.

Right now getting established is more important than being paralyzed by indecision.

As understanding comes, thing will be clearer.

The difference between the two accounts:

Business account - dedicated to your business. One day you may sell your business, this account allows you to build value and keep your focus on your business.

Personal brand account - dedicated to you as a personality, as a brand, something that you can post anything on and that you can use to grow your personal following. This is something you would never sell and will stick with you across multiple businesses.

Businesses come and go, but your personal brand is with you forever. It's something you can use to get new businesses off the ground in the future.

Again, just stick to your business Google account for now.

If there was only one piece of advice that I could give you it would be this:

Don't stop. If you find a decision on what the "right way" is, make any decision. Because any decision is better than indecision.

Persistence trumps all, and there are hundreds of ways to do something, there is no "right way". :)

Hope this helps,

--James

Hi James,
Thank you yet again for taking your time to help me.

Yes, I can see exactly what you mean now by having two accounts. Makes perfect sense and I will indeed in the future make another account for my personal brand.

You are right, persistence trumps all, and I have done a lot of that in the last 6 weeks since I joined WA. I'm blown away by what I have achieved so far and I couldn't have done it without the help of all the amazing people on here (yourself included of course).

So again, thanks

You're very welcome Stefanie!

I'm glad to hear that you're making such great progress. :)

It's amazing what you can achieve when we make a decision and just go for it!

Here's to your continued success!

--James
