I got a check today!
Here in the US, we had a day off Monday to Celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr.s life. We've also had a bit of bad weather in our part of the US. Tuesday we had enough snow to close the local school district, the one Carol teaches at, so there was day-off number two.
THEN, as life likes to throw it's own curve balls at you, we had a minor family emergency at about 1AM Wednesday morning, which left the family support team, aka., Carol and I, with little sleep and lots of duties to take care of. Like soothing distraught grandkids, making sure their mother got the emergency care she needed, and keeping their little family unit from coming apart at the seams. Everything worked out fine, by the way. Long story short, Wednesday was all of a sudden a day off, also.
Three days of interruption to life's normal flow. No big deal. Except for the fact that we didn't go to the mailbox all that time. So, this morning, in the middle of our NEXT round of snow, I walked up to the mail boxes. I jokingly said to Carol, "We COULD have money in there." She quickly replied, "What do you mean COULD?" I shuffled up to the mailbox, grabbed the mail, and headed home, and THERE it was!
I could see it through the envelope, the almost exact amount of money I KNOW in my head that I can make in affiliate marketing every ten weeks! Ten weeks worth of income. It was off by only $2000! I ripped the envelope up and sure enough! A CHECK! Except it had printed on it, "You Are Prequalified", and "Non-negotiable". It doesn't matter to me! I cut that check out and I hung it on the wall right where we can both see it any time we look that direction!
Because just hanging it up, I started thinking of ALL the ways that amount of money will change our life. Not having to worry about a snowstorm. The trips we can take, the student loans we can pay off, the TAXES we can give the government! (Wait, that was a little sarcasm there, hehehehe) That income will benefit my family, my grandkids, and the people around me.
So the next time one of those fake checks shows up, the ones that we all get in the mail for credit card offers, home equity loans, whatever, take it and PIN THAT BUGGER UP where you can see it! And everytime you walk by it, remember what that kind of money will help you do.
That is MOTIVATION!
Everyone have a great week!
Steve

There's an old story that when he first started in show business, Jim Carrey wrote a check to himself for $1,000,000. It was a promise he made to himself that one day he could cash it. And one day, he did.
