Are You "Hitting The Wall?"

If you're like me you have probably found yourself "hitting the wall" on more than one occasion as you move through the training and setting up your website. As you know that can REALLY be a frustrating experience. As someone who is new to online marketing and to pretty much everything I'm learning here at WA, I have "hit the wall" more than once.

I hit it when I couldn't figure out how to move my Privacy Policy link from my main menu to a footer on the theme I'm using. I hit it in the beginning when I was trying to figure out what niche I wanted to focus on. I hit it when trying to figure out what theme would be good to use (still re-thinking that one). Now I know that I am not unique. If I "hit the wall" from time to time, it's pretty safe to assume that some of you do too.

So what should you do when that happens? Well first let me tell you what you shouldn't do. Don't give up! Don't try to force a decision or solution. Don't panic. Don't strain your brain. Nobody wants to see your head blow up and it really makes a mess on your computer! :)

So again, what should you do? First of all, relax. It could be that you "hit the wall simply because you've been at it too long in one sitting and are tired. Take a break. Give your mind a chance to relax and cool down.

Secondly, ask for help - you're not alone. WA is made up of some very awesome and knowledgeable people. Don't be afraid to ask questions. I've asked a ton pof them as I "hit the wall" and received somne great answers anbd help from people in the community here. If you're stuck...don't stay stuck. There's no reason for that.

If you need someone to be on with you while you're trying to resolve and issue, use the Private Message feature here to dialogue back and forth with someone who is helping you. I had to do that with moving my Private Policy link and the person who was helping me was very patient and willing to hang with me til we got it done. There are people here who really "rock" and can give you some expert advice and help.

Learning to relax and ask questions in this process is like a release valve that will lower the mental pressure we put on ourselves when we "hit the wall" and it will definitely decrease your frustration. Enjoy the process, don't let it beat you up.

great points. Your words are motivational!

Thank you very much for this post. I can relate :) Learning to relax at the wall, ask questions, and then knock it down.

Hitting the wall is a everyday experience for me when I am on the lessons and sometimes when I am posting a blog!
Great post!
Sheila

Thanks Sheila.

As long as we are in this business we are going to hit the wall. But the longer we are in it the better we become at going over it, around it, under it or straight through it. Sometimes I just go out in the back yard and bark at the moon.

lol, how's that barking at the moon working out for you Dick? I do agree with what you said. Thanks for the feedback.

Woof, woof.

That wall has a lot of cracks in it. I know. I put some of them there. I'm glad things are working out OK. You know where to get the help.

Yup, thanks Barry.

I have 'hit the wall' numerous times in the past three months or so - you are definitely far from the only one. I have always received good answers to my questions or read some training just at the right time to help me through.

That is exactly and I went through it a few times but am still learning every day something new!

theme 23 is what I use and it is great -

have a look at what I have done with it
