Spreading the word about PTSD

So yesterday we had an all too rare day of glorious sunshine and I decided to take myself, along with my son and grandson, off into the mountains of Snowdonia to complete my last day of doing 22 push ups for 22 days to help raise awareness of PTSD in veterans and serving members of the armed forces.

The reason that the number 22 was chosen is because of the tragic fact that 22 veterans in the USA commit suicide because of this terrible affliction...EVERY DAY.

And while I am not an American, I am more than willing to show solidarity with our brothers and sisters across the pond.

I am a UK veteran. Here in the UK suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45 years of age.

If I was able, through my actions, to help just one person suffering from this silent killer realise that they need not suffer alone and that there is always somebody who wants to listen and help, then I consider it a small task well done.

If you would like to see my last 22 you can do so with the following link.

(not bad for an old guy even if I do say so myself!)

Also, if any of you wonderful people would care to share my video so that it may reach the 101st airborne division (air assault) that would be greatly appreciated as I have nominated them to take up the challenge.

If this post is inappropriate for this site then I apologise and will take it down.

To you success

Steve.

Great post Steve and very well done on doing you 22 push ups for 22 days. Sorry this is such a late reply Steve. xx

Being able to create awareness in the men and women that suffer with PTSD helps them realise that they should and can, get help.
Awareness is the start to helping the problem, so well done to you Steve.

What a wonderful thing you are doing Steve and I admire you greatly for it. My daughter suffers with PTSD every day of her life and anything which creates increased awareness of what a terrible place it is to be stuck in, can only be good :)

Thank you for your comment and keep up the good work. SSAFA do a commendable job.
Your sister wouldn't be Jacqui would it?

My sister took part in this challenge I did my own version a bit easier due to medical stuff, I work for SSAFA and as a case worker I am seeing so many young men and woman who are going through PTSD and they face so many challenges and our government fails them.. Well done I even have a page on my website to signpost to services to help veterans past and present..
