Search engines locate sites by keywords, I type in: “top paying affiliates” as my quarry. Will the search engine key in on keywords within the URL, or keywords on the site itsel
I don't think it really makes enough difference to worry about. The importance of having keywords in a domain name has dropped significantly over the years. An "exact match domain" (EMD) no longer carries the ranking weight that it once may have.
From searchenglinejournal:
"In light of the trend since 2010, many SEOs feel that EMDs and other keyword domains may become even less beneficial in the future. This does not mean that you should necessarily avoid or abandon keyword domains, but it does mean that keywords shouldn’t be the primary factor you consider when choosing a domain."
This article discusses using brandable domain names versus keyword-based domain names.

You have one domain name. You will have many posts, each with different keyword, so it is pointless thinking about keyword in the domain name. But it can be good to have domain name which is related to niche.
