Vorsprung durch Diesel Trick
Honestly you thought you could trust people. Now it seems one of the mmost trusted companies in the world. A company that relies on its reputation for reliability and great mechanics, is no longer trustworthy. Simple computer system falsifies emmission test. People buy the cars for their low emissions but they have been cheated. They have paid premiums for the car, and now face having them repaired to sort out the software. To be honest I believe there is a lot more to this than meets the eye. Possible more companies doing the same. It is a bit like some internet Gurus promoting on their reputation something that does not do what they say. Is there always a hidden twist to everything. I am just so happy I found Wealthy Affiliate, nothing hidden here.
If you can not trust people then what are we to do. Take risks with everything we purchase. I know there are trustworthy and honest people around and not every one is out to make a profit. What we need is more honesty in this world and p[roper advice. That is why I joined this community to help others and meet honest people.
I have found the community here to be very honest and very reliable. Providing great advice and help when needed.

When will these big corporations realise people are not stupid and should be given the service they expect not conned
Steve, Yes, it is very inconceivable. Volkswagen has been a very reliable company for many, many years. It is truely unbelievable that the person at the top could allow such a thing to happen. They have sullied the name of Volkswagen and it will cost them dearly. That is not to say that other auto manufacturers, in the U.S. and Japan have not done similar things by skirting correct manufacturing practices, and have caused recalls with airbags, faulty accelerators, ignition switches, and the list goes on. But it is not to be expected from VW.
These things are always in the name of Profits.
Maybe if they concentrated more on long-term goals rather than the quick profit they would have a brighter future. Short term quick profit is never a good option, you need to build trust and provide what the customer expects
I agree and the balance sheet problem seems to be endemic to the companies that need to show profit every quarter. They are cutting corners which in the long run is not good for either consumer or the Manufacturer.
Too right - wonder where we stand here - 1 golf 7 and Audi A6 - both under years old, purchased specifically for low emissions, low tax, low consumption etc. We shall have to play the waiting game I guess but in the meantime we will continue to build with WA - definitely trustworthy, upfront and best place to be.
There will be a website up soon where you can type your number plate in and it will let you know. Otherwise, VW has stated they will be writing personally to people affected

I agree trust is everything, but with a brand that has had longevity and expects it to stay that way, then we are just talking about stupid. You will lose your business as soon as you are caught out.
I agree you must treat people with honesty and respect. Treat everyone the way you would want to be treated
