Creating Your Favicon
Hello All:
As many of you know, I spend a considerable amount of time in SiteFeedback offering feedback to folks. I do what is known as the sandwich method of providing feedback. I offer a compliment, then I list the things numerically that can be improved upon and then in the last paragraph I end it with another compliment or reminder of the compliment I mentioned in the first paragraph.
One of the most common things I recommend to people is to create a site icon (or favicon) for your website. For those that do not know what that is, that is the tiny image in the browser tab. For example: below is what it might look like on your computer:
When I make that suggestion, I almost always get the question, "How do I do that?" or "Why should I do that?" As to the answer why you should do that, because it establishes your website’s identity. Plus, it also improves your site’s usability and user experience.
As to how to do it, I created a tutorial for creating a site icon that you can review to get the full step-by-step, but below I have listed the three top ways to do it:
1. Check to see if you have a theme that will easily allow for it. Look under appearance > editor and see if it is listed under something like site title/site icon, etc.
2. If you do not have a theme that allows for ease of creating it, you can enter the following code in the <head> section of your website:
<link rel="icon"
type="image/ico"
href="http://yourwebsite.com/yoursiteicon.ico">
3. Use a plugin like the one below. Enter "Site Icon" in the plugin search bar.

Good job. My theme asked me to upload one, and resized it for me, otherwise I would have been on here asking for help :-)

I guess you can use it. :) I am not sure if it would help your business though. You could also use your adorable granddaughter shown in your profile pic. I am sure that would get great business. Everyone enjoys looking at cute kids wearing a cap and gown and showing their proud achievements. :)
