With Alnino floating around in the ocean, we live with the unforgiving consequences there of here in the southern tip of Africa, making survival a hard one.

With the Kgalagadi desert not too far away slowly creeping closer claming and turning soil to sand is heartbreaking. Living close to nature here in the bush we intensely feel all nature's moods.

The last rain we had was during April earlier this year. It is seven months now and the elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, kudus, impalas to name a few find nothing to graze only dry grass and leaves on the ground. They stumble through the barren dusty veld searching for food.

Only the preditors in the likes of lions, leopards, hyenas, wild dogs and jackals are having a field day with all the weak antilope.

Last night the first drops of rain for the season fell softly on the roof. We listened in awe, the most welcoming sound one can here in the bush.

Tomorrow brings hope for new life ... all have a sincere of appreciation and hope.

Soon green grass will be on both sides of the fence!

Touches my heart...
the sound of rain...

Magic!

Yes...

Wow, you live in Africa I thought southern Africa was very green. Be careful Have a super day

Yes not all is so dry but our anual rainfall in the Lowveld it round about 300mm but the first rain sometimes comes very late in the season and with Alnino playing games it can get tuff ... but when we have good rains the veld goes green in two weeks.
Have a wonderful day.

It's not as serious here in Colorado, but I do understand the desire for moisture. We always joke that we never turn down a drop of anything. Our consequences are wildfires that consume entire forests. Hang in there, and may today be better.

Thank you Jeannine, I believe the fires can be horrendous luckily we do not suffer from veld fires... only late rain.
Haev a fabulous day

Hope everything will get better as tomorrow comes.
Take care Stella.
