Hey Stephen,
It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If you are simply going to post blogs with affiliate links, then I would say no.
On the other hand, if you are going to be implementing a full scale ecommerce solution complete with a shopping cart, etc., than you may need to have SSL implemented, although these day, the payment processors are more sophisticated and often can handle it for you.

kws123, I cant believe you said that, lol. I would research traffic generating ways for your site. There are TONS, and then choose one and focus on getting really good with that. Once you have established yourself and got good results with that one, then add a new strategy. There is article writing, pay per click, social marketing, and a lot more like I said. Find one you like and go with it to start.
Yeah you're right, probably shouldn't have have suggested quality content,or the woman comparison, forgive me.
No you were right. Quality content is a way to drive traffic. And the women comparison I thought made the point very clear indeed. Just funny.
