I'm having this exact issue after following the video, can anyone shed some more light on this? I see that Shaun's resolve was to deactivate 'Google xml Sitemaps' and just keep 'All In One SEO' activated or something but I am really unsure what he was meaning here. Can anyone clarify this or does anyone have a solution? Thanks

UPDATE: It actually just went away completely on it's own after several hours. I put this here incase anyone else ever has the same issue. I changed nothing from Kyle's video method on submitting an xml sitemap and the problem just went away.

I'm not sure about the lesson but if you go to your site and then plugins, look up google xml sitemaps, make sure sitemaps has the s at the end. Download it then activate it. Once it's activated go to webmaster tools, click on sitemaps. Then add/test sitemap. Your website should be listed there, All you have to do is add sitemap.xml and click submit sitemap. You shouldn't see any errors. Tell me if it works.

I installed the same plug in you mentioned and activated it. Copied the sitemap.xml ran a test. The error that keeps popping up is "sitemap is HTML" ??

how did you enter your website. Was it with a http://

yes and then without to see if that would work. Neither one seems to do the trick.

Did you put your site in as mysite.com without the www. or http:

yes I did without www or the http:

So I am really trying to figure this out for you. When you go to sitemaps you only enter sitemap.xml not your whole site and sitemap.xml?

That is correct I just enter sitemap.xml Thanks for helping me I really appreciate it!

Sorry. I did my best.

No worries. Thanks for reaching out ! I went through the video lesson again and still no luck. Just when I thought I was getting the hang of things ...too funny. I will try sending a support ticket and see what happens.

Try deleting your site from webmaster tools and then entering without http or www. then submit yout sitemap with the sitemap.xml

I gave that a go no dice... do you think the theme has anything to do with the error I am getting? I am still using the " Metro " wordpress theme after I purchased my domain and did the transfer from WA's free one.

I wish I could say but I have no idea. Such are the trials an tribulations that we face. I have spent hours on authorship to no avail. Go figure.
We tried but I know you will figure it out.

Thanks again for trying to help me out. What sort of problems are you having with authorship?

First of all when I try to create a christina@mywebsite.com it doesn't work so I just go with my own email and when I sign up with authorship they don't want to except that.

Whoo hooo good news I figured it out. I went to the all in one seo and activated the xml site map plug in and deactivated the google one and it works !

I hear Jeff Buckley singing hallelujah in my ears.

Are you using the same email that you have in word press under settings - general tab to the one within your google account ?

I tried creating a website at the beginning that went with my website and carried throughtout but it didn't work. I got return mail everytime. I will look into it.

That is what I had to do to fix mine. I was using two different emails hope that helps and will fix your problem. When you get a chance to look into let me know if it worked ok? Also did you Add yourself as a contributor to your website within Google + ?

Honestly, I'm not sure. I will check. I feel like I am drowning sometimes. We all get it in the end though, don't we.

Check out those ideas for me and let me know in case we need to come up another solution. No rush! when ever you get a chance. I feel the same way at times, being very new to all of this web building. Yes I have been fortunate enough to figure out a few things on my own. Just like when we were bouncing ideas off each to fix my problem, I was able to figure it out. I am here if you need any help, I'll do my best to get you an answer.

Thank you. I wasn't much help but I will be there again if I can.

No Problem. Anytime !

Looking for a how to ?

you can try the site that Jeremy suggested which gives you a true ranking of your sitehttp://lmgtfy.com all the best

I always type my domain name in to the Google search box to find the results. Alternatively, you can use the Jaaxy Enterprise keyword tool to search for your blog posts under the keyword search terms you are aiming to be ranked for which will tell you where your posts are ranked on Google.

I hope this helps too :)

Neil

Thanks neilc I will give that a go !

You're welcome.

Good information for a newbie like myself. Thanks!

Hi.

Type the following into Google search:

site:mysite.com (replace with your website URL obviously).

It will then list all of the pages that are indexed.

All the best, Mark

Thanks mark for the quick reply !!

Hey Mark What if only one page has been indexed, and not the others ? Is because of poor choices in my keywords?

Hi - no, it'll just be because Google hasn't got around to it yet - or perhaps it's missing from your sitemap file.

There are a couple of tutorials on sitemaps here:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/setting-up-submitting-a-sitemap-to-google-webmaster-tools
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-submit-a-sitemap-to-bing-webmaster-tools

Cheers, Mark

Strange. All my pages are indexed (only 6). I have a page with 2 shoe conversion charts (images no text) and that indexed.

I'm pretty sure Google will index all of your pages, regardless of content.

Where they show up in the search engine results is directly affected by your content.

Being indexed and where you rank, are not the same thing.

Cheers, Mark

Yup I am lost too..

Hi - what are you lost with specifically?

Thanks, Mark
