Overwhelmed!

It has been a couple of busy weeks here in my household! We had a big graduation party for my two oldest boys, a birthday for my oldest daughter, my husband's work picnic, and mine and my husband's 31st wedding anniversary in just a few days! On top of it, I am still in the social media part of my training! Which, if you read my last post, the social media part is the hardest part for me.

I did push through and joined all the media sites and made posts on two of them. The other two are on today's task as well as starting a couple more content pages, and research for another review post.

Now, looking at all I have done and what I need to do today, I am feeling overwhelmed. Overwhelmed, again, by the social media part of it. How do I keep up with all these social media accounts....the posting, following others, engaging with people, on ALL these sites AND try to write good content for my own site AND keep up with the activity here on WA?

My family really does need to come first. I am still a stay at home mom to 7 kids. The older four are mostly on their own, but sometimes they need me more than my younger 3! On the other hand, I am really enjoying seeing my website, isdinnerreadyyet.com, come to life! It is not perfect and I have a LOT to learn, but seeing it come up from nothing is so encouraging. I just need to find a way to organize things (I cannot work in a state of being overwhelmed or unorganized) so that it doesn't seem overwhelming to me.

I would love to hear how, those of you who are experienced at this, keep up with it all! Do you have a life outside of the computer? LOL Organizational tips? I'm sure there are other newbies besides myself who could benefit from your wisdom!

It sounds like you need to have some plans for your day Karen. Many family people get overwhelmed at times and that is when they only have the household to look after, and they are not trying to run a new business.

Sometimes we just need to step back and reset our goals! I often plan my days and then find I have not allowed time for the essentials like shopping and eating.

We have to accept that life sometimes get in the way of what we would like to be doing, but family must always come first.

Yes, I agree! I need to make the plans. I like the suggestion of making a list. I really do like lists! Right now, I'm dealing with "my" plans being put to the side because I have to deal with "others" and their plans. LOL That is called being a MOM!

I know I can do this...just a matter of getting a good schedule and sticking to it.

Thank you for your suggestions!

I can not add anything more than what's already been added except I wish you well.

Thank you! I wish you well too!

Thank you also.

I'm in kind of in the same boat. But.. I did add social media sharing buttons to my site yesterday. I'm pretty happy with that. I'm learning about Pinterest mainly. Loving that. There is a post here somewhere (search for it) that explains more about how to work Pinterest. I'm just going to delve into each of the medias one at a time. I'm not doing All of them at the same time. It is too overwhelming. I am sharing a few things from my own site on twitter (through my social media button). So easy..

Just an FYI. You don't have to already have an account on the social media sites to add the sharing buttons to your site.. :)

No, I didn't know that! But, since I already have the accounts...lol I think I will do as suggested and make a list, prioritize things, and take small bites to begin with.

Hello Karen,
I am on WA 2 months only and had the same problem lately. I was so overwhelmed by the post writing, my work and personal life, social networks etc.
As I am newbie I understand your feeling and I would recommend one thing, which workes for me - after making my website really cool and nice for social audience I started to focus on 2 social networks (I did the profile in 3, but who cares), which makes the most sense to you in relation to your Niche. But be active on them as much as possible.
I have started to post on Pinterest, surprisingly it is very easy to keep one pin per day and it already brings me some audience, after only 1 week of using. Or start with one and add second social media after some while when the posting is faster for you and more intuitive.
Those are my advice to you as I was struggling two weeks ago with the same.
Anyway, good luck to you, you will be ok, I believe. Let yourself have some rest as well without blaming yourself for doing nothing with your site, it is the part of the path as well!
Bye Renata

Thank you! Taking it in small chuncks is helpful! I'll try not to bite off more than I can chew.

Its definitely hard to get everything done when you have a family to keep you busy too. I divide everything i do into priority groups and focus on high priority stuff (my websites) first. Social media for me is low priority. I find it time consuming and I don't particularly enjoy it so i only spend time on it if I have everything else done.

I agree with it being low priority! But, I have seen a difference in my traffic since I joined them and I see the benefits (never thought I would say that!). Do you get good traffic and make money by putting social media as low priority?
