Is Facebook A Wildfire? What Are Your Thoughts?
Hello everyone, I hope all is doing well.
I have been observing the news about Facebook. I've watched Zuckerberg being questioned and viewing people's thoughts about it on other social media platforms.
I couldn't help but think of an out of control wildfire when I observed everything today.
As we all know, Facebook is a social media platform that has billions of users.
It is also a platform that has a lot of controversies.
I was going to ask this question on a social media platform, but I decided to ask it here at WA because I feel that a lot of people here are more familiar with how an online business is run rather than someone who doesn't.
If you didn't know this already, Zuckerberg admitted in 2016; they were on the backfoot with political ads that pertained to Russia.
If you're thinking I'm referring to politics here, I'm not.
So Here Is My Question
With so many users and their data, ad campaigns along with free speech, do you think Zuckerberg has a handle on the flames?
If so, why? If not, why?
Why Am I Asking This Question?
I'm curious about how other people feel if the CEO of Facebook grew his business in an uncontrolled matter.
Can this happend to us as well?
If you look at our niche sites, there are times where we have to deal with odd instances.
If you look at WA, they are growing at a steady pace. Sometimes we see odd instances, and they seem to handle these instances quite rapidly.
I get it that WA doesn't have billions of people as of yet, but I feel that as their users grow, they will keep a handle on the flames.
I get it that Facebook makes changes, but back to what Zuckerberg said about being on their backfoot in 2016, I can't help but think what happened and why? Was it just about money?
I would love to read your comments below, and please keep politics out of it, thanks!

He has a large resource and wants as much money as possible from it.
Adverts that are pure scams and get reported stay up because they are paid for.
He cares only about the bottom line. Good luck to him in that.
The bigger they are the harder they fall.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Linda, do you think Zuckerberg has a handle on his resources? I get that he can make a lot of money with ads and all that but do you think he lost a handle on how he conducts his business or he knows exactly what he's doing?
Facebook has so much power over people it's scary. It's definitely all about money with them. If it wasn't ,why are they looking at creating their own crypto currency.
I certainly hope WA never becomes another Facebook. 99% of the people here get on well with each other. Facebook is full of keyboard warriors just looking for an excuse to put someone down, or their ideologies, beliefs, opinions etc., Jim
Hey Jim, I don't think WA would conduct their business similar to Zuckerberg. We are a paying community here andd I'm sure we wouldn't see ads up in here, but there are some users that spam and I believe WA keeps a handle on things when it comes to that.
As for speech, all social media sites tend to do that.
As for this Libra crypto currency, it's interesting how it will play out. Either people are going to buy into it or not. From what I read there are a lot big online influences on board and some that backed out. Also, from my understanding Libra isn't necessarily crypto currency. However, it hasn't happened as of yet, so we will see exactly what this currency is gong to be.

Some issue is that some of the most popular FB accounts were taken off from the site due to violations of whatever, while the others are happy doing the same thing without being taken off? At least that is what my friends were saying. At any rate, Facebook has lessen its trustworthiness for people who are serious dong some good content in this social medium.
I find it interesting that popular FB accounts are getting taken down. I find it to be odd because if people like to go to a certain page or place in FB, why take it down? Shouldn't the owner want to keep their users happy?
Exactly. It is becoming more controversial because of the high handed approach to freedom of expression.

Not sure if you can comment on this situation and leave politics out of it, but I do understand your request.
Zuckerberg worries me. I'd like to see FB continue as a strong entity, but he seems to be intent on messing it up. I do think we could run into a problem with our websites if we grew too big and didn't put in the proper system checks.
At this point, I'm watching and waiting. I don't want to pull out of FB, but will wait to see what happens to it.
Hey Fran, when he was questioned, I thought it was odd that he wasn't able to answer much and that is troublesome because you really can't get a feel of the grasp he has with his FB.
And when he was answering questions, they kind of interrupted him a lot which didn't help him at all.
I don't know if it is his intent to mess up what he started. He just doesn't seem to have a grasp by the way things are moving towards the future of FB.
I don't blame you to see how things play out because he could turns things around and only time will tell.
