First Taste of Profit!
I started affiliate marketing back in September.
I've only really done PPC, because I didn't really know if this was the path for me to take. I was skeptical like anyone else, but I soon learned that internet marketing will lead me to achieve everything that I promised myself when I was 12 years old....Yes, 12!
So here is a little bit a personal history:
I started using computers when I was 3 years old. My parents owned a computer store in Oregon, and it was doing alright. The year was 1997...so, personal computers were still a relatively new concept, and the Internet was just born. My parents didn't have much success with the business, so we ended up moving to the east coast to start a new life, and find a source of income.
Why did I say that I started using computers at 3? Well to be honest, I learned many things at an accelerated pace, and I taught myself how to use a computer at the age of 3. My parents were astounded when they found out that I was able to put a password on my computer.
The password was "U". But it wasn't just a random character that my tiny fingers randomly hit on the keyboard. That was the password my dad used when he would set up computers.
Why? Well, my dad and I share a very dry sense of humor, and most of the time, our jokes are only funny to us. The username he would set up on the computers was "Me". So, Username: "Me", Password:"U". It's comical to us, and extremely.....childish? Say what you will, we won't change.
Moving on several years....I was 12, and I found out that I could make things on the computer using very special languages that only computers could use. I was highly intrigued by this notion.
My dad handed me a Borland's C++ book, and off I went. Every page was more frustrating than the last. I couldn't figure out why simple things worked the way they did...and I needed to know the "Why". One of the most embarrassing mistakes that I've made was trying to output the famous "Hello World" to the console.
Anyone that knows c++ will understand this next bit:
std::cout << "Hello World!" << std::endl;
This bit of "nonsense" prints "Hello World!" to the screen. At the end of the line, we tell the console that it's the end of the line denoted by "std::endl". Well I couldn't get that line to compile for the life of me....I found out the reason was that the font in the book make the l look like a 1. I was furious, and closed the book never to open it again.
A few months later, I learned how to write in Java. I studied every night after school, and just wrote programs....for years. Literally. When I was 15 I put a game on the internet that I made. I acquired $200 in donations for entertaining people that downloaded my game. This is what set in motion my entire career path, hence what I am doing now.
Now lets fast-forward to current day.
I started my PPC campaign back in September, and I made a huge mistake... I started with Google Ads. Google Ads is extremely competitive, and expensive. I did make a $27 commission though. :) - That's what started my interest in affiliate marketing, and started driving me to learn as much as I could.
In October, I purchased several coursed on Udemy specifically about affiliate marketing. I didn't learn all that much, rather, they were recaps of what I already knew.
I did learn about Bing Ads, and this is were I began to see a lot of success.
Here is my campaign. It's been running for about 3 months now.
So, I've spent $148.87 on this campaign. Let's go over to Clickbank to see how much I've made. :)Net sales: $174.49
Net Profit: $24.62
That's not a lot, but hey, it's working isn't it? :D
Thank you for reading, and I wish you all success as well!

You are better to concentrate on having fun and enjoying what you do and the money will come - best regards Paul
Great job!! Congratulations! You learn great things from your mistakes! (as painful as it may be at times!) I'm a computer geek - a really old one. :) Made lots and lots and lots of mistakes. Haven't made any money yet, still working on it. :)
Thank you very much. I guess it just comes down to how much work you can put into it, and how willing you are to learn from your mistakes, then implement changes in order to succeed. :)
I knew you were going to be someone to keep my eye on even if I don't follow everything.
I know I can learn from you and get better! Thank you!
This is very familiar to how I got my start. There was no cut and dry SEO process when I started out and I actually dove head first into the PPC world back in the days when Overture was the big PPC network (Yahoo).
I took a small budget and I took the idea of consumer relevance and I made it work within the first 3 months or so. You are definitely getting the knack for things Kyle, sure you have hit a few bumps and probably made a few mistakes, but that is part of the learning process.
So awesome to see your progress thus far and congrats on your early stages of what I know will be much greater success. Onwards and upwards!
