Writing to a Blank Room?
You just started a new website. Does it feel like you are writing to a blank room?
Have you been working on your website for what seems like a long time, but it still isn't getting traffic. Does it feel like you are writing to a blank room?
Do not despair, writing to an empty room is necessary part of the process.
Consider the following people - they all HAVE to start working while the room is empty.
- Think of your website, as if you were a teacher preparing the lessons for the week.
- Think of your website, as if you were a speaker preparing to give a seminar.
- Think of your website, as if you were an author that will do a book signing once they have published their nonfiction book.
- Think of your website, as if you were a person that was about to open a brick and mortar retail shop. First you have to purchase the inventory, price it, and set up the displays before you open the doors.
- Think of your website, as if you were a chef that will be preparing the dinner for a wedding reception.
In each of these cases, the room is empty. Yet, the work that must be done while the room is empty is critical to the person's success. The same is true when you are writing content for your website that is not getting any traffic yet. What you are doing is critical if you want your affiliate marketing website to generate revenue.
Don't give up when you feel like you are writing to a blank room.
Thank you for being part of this WA community that I cherish so much.

That is an awesome post-Sondra and you make a great point here we all start with a blank board and we have to fill it with words and hang it on the wall so to speak.
When we start to write the content then people start coming it is like this if we build it they will come and that is a saying that I live by.
Best wishes on your journey with WA.

Thank you Mary.
I like that thought, "Build it and they will come."
I hope your week is productive.
You are very welcome and that came from the Field of Dreams and I thought you would like that.
I hope that your week is just a productive

Well said Sondra!
I like the analogies you pointed out.
We must love what we do just for the doing until we get to the reward.

Hi Kyleann,
I can not begin to imagine how challenging it would be to do this if you were not interested in the topic you are writing about. I suppose some people can, but I'm not one of them.
I hope you have a great week.
Really like your insights, Sondra, crossing the blank room bridge can be so empowering.
Creating content can be hard especially when no one turns up to your show, some folks give up.
The path to becoming a stadium player always started in a garage in garage land.
Alex,
I always enjoy reading your perspective and insights.
I hadn't thought about what it would feel like to be a musician starting out. I suppose all creatives need to enjoy what they are doing when they first start out.
I hope that you have a great week.
Great post Sondra.
I like the perspective you have put in.
Wishing you a great success in your business (website).

Hee hee so true Sondra. My solution is I visualize a person is next to me and I'm talking to her/him. I try to think of what this person is thinking and I make it as if that person is saying it and I answer it.
I know, I know 'crazy' you might ask? Yep, that's what it appears but it works for me. So easy when I do this.
Y'know I have a older sister and I grew into playing make believe tea parties with her. We would talk as if we have imaginary friends with us and we strike up a conversation.
It worked for us then and it does now.
AND I AM 64 YEARS OLD. Haah!
Thanks for sharing Sondra, you made me regress into time, when I was 4 years old. LOLS!
fRAnk =)
How funny Frank.
Actually, I like you comment a lot. Personally, I have been working on trying to be more conversational in my writing. I may need to pretend like I am having an imaginary tea party.
Best wishes
Beware, Sondra, do it in front of your computer.....alone.
OH, and don't speak but write. You don't know who's listening in.
Rumors spread easily! HA ha hee hee.
Be safe and take care my sister!
FraNK
LOL. Oh....but it might be much more fun if I did it at my work computer where other people could see and hear me talking to my imaginary friends.
