Daily Facts - Day #57: Diabetes - A $300 million dollar niche
Diabetes. A well-known and unfortunately widely spread problem of our modern age.
According to several sources, there are more than 400 million people affected worldwide!
The facts provided by teh American Diabetes Association are frightening ...
- Diabetes affects 30 million children and adults in the U.S. That's 1 in 11 Americans.
- 84 million Americans have prediabetes and are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. 90% of them din't know they have it.
- Every 21 seconds someone in the U.S is diagnosed with diabetes!
- The total cost of diabetes and prediabetes in the U.S. is $322 billion.
- The average price of insulin increased nearly 3 times between 2002 and 2013.
- People with diabetes have health care costs 2.3 times greater than those without diabetes.
All these people are pvery picky about they eat, and for good reason, because they may suffer consequences in both the short and long run with poor food choices.
But of course, like any other human being, they want to enjoy food and they want to be able to pick and choose from various food recipes. More than that, they want to be able to live a happy, fulfilled life.
Which is a huge opportunity for affiliate marketers!
Once again, Google Trends will show us how steady is the demand in this niche:
And Jaaxy gave me the astonishing 317,998 average monthly searches for the term "diabetes" ...
And of course, there are endless subniches, interest- and target groups within this niche: diabetic diet, diabetic recipes, diabetic desserts, diabetic recipes for kids, diabetic recipes for pregnant women, diabetic solutions for busy people, etc, etc.
Which means a LOT of affiliate products. Recipe books, testing kits, lifestyle coaching, pills and drugs, supplements, monitoring solutions, survival kits, subscriptions, etc. I found 20,000 items only on Amazon.
My conclusion
With literally tens of millions of diabetics all around the world, you should be considering this evergreen niche that unfortunately isn't going anywhere soon.
Your thoughts?

Having a sister that is a diabetic, I can honestly say that the numbers they are showing may be low. That is one of the reasons why I selected grilling as a niche, it may be a difficult and narrow niche at this point but I will end up showing how important it can be to those with diabetes. Good Post.

I have opened up a diabetes Kitchen in my facebook in my mother tongue. I have posted for people to help in my state in India. I eventually will make a website and post those back in English. The diabetes world really needs help.
Huge opportunities here. A chance to help others and build business.
Thanks for the information.

The Google Medic algorithm update in August hit a lot of health sites. Those sites saw a huge drop in traffic. While there's huge traffic potential, it might be difficult to rank.
Just the usual Google dance ... They are recovering already ... The algorithm changes are part of the SEO game.
Thanks for the feedback Kathrin!
i'd be interested what sites you're following, that you've seen recovery on. if you can share, that'd be much appreciated! i have my eye on another health related niche, but have stayed away from it because of the google update and lack of performance of similar pages in ahrefs. thank you!
I'm not following any particular sites, but I got a lot of feedback from different sources, site owners, friends etc on social media platforms, commmunity forums etc.
Mark I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you on that one. It helps in pre-diabetes, but it does not prevent it and it does not cure it. I don't know your situation but iv'e been diagnosed with diabetes for over 20 years. I hope you don't have it and if you don't I hope you never do. I'm not a doctor but that is my take on it. All we can do is research and pray someday the medical world will find a cure.
That’s a lot of Jaaxy hits and that’s also interesting because there was some diabetes articles just this morning and I was gonna research that niche.
Thank you!
Colleen
I have one post on this already Zed, I think I'll do more with these facts. I knew there was a big demand for this niche but I didn't know how big
Thanks
I agree. Great post. I have a bad case of type 2 diabetes and I bought out a domain in case I got into the subject further than my own care. It is actually a growing disease in America. The best part about creating a site about this topic is you may help someone way more than just finding a helpful product. You could be sending them on a path to their recovery.
Iv'e been s type 2 diabetic for 20 years. Very good smart move buying a domain. Do you mind telling me the name of the domain, just curious
mycheflenny.com You can check out my post . Give me some feedback if you don't mind
