Daily Facts - Day #45: Billion dollar niches - Renewable energy
Yep ... It may sound incredible, but I'm talking about a market with more than $140 billion in yearly sales!
As the supply of fossil fuels dwindles, the demand for renewable energy sources has increased.
This includes everything from solar tiles and Tesla Powerwalls, to solar-powered USB charging packs.
And of course, there are opportunities to sell more than just solar solutions here.
For example, people are also looking at wind and water turbines to generate electricity for their home.
Yes, it's true ... Renewable energy still represents only a small fraction of today’s global energy consumption ... But the growth rates are high! And numbers don't lie ...
According to BP ...
- Renewable electricity generation is estimated to account for 8.4% of global electricity generation.
- Renewables do, however, play a significant role in the growth of electricity, contributing almost 50% of the growth in global power generation in 2017!
- At the individual country level these sources are already playing an important role in some countries. Denmark leads, with 68% of power coming from renewables. Among the larger EU economies, the renewables share in power is 30% in Germany, 28% in the UK, 25% in Spain, and 23% in Italy.
- The rapid growth of renewable power generation continued in 2017, with an increase of 17%. In volume terms, the largest increase was in China, followed by the US; with Germany, Japan, and India making up the rest of the top five.
And if you are skeptical about this market, then please take a look at the direction Saudi Arabia is taking.
Their goal is to become the world leader in solar energy by 2030!
In other words: one of the biggest oil producers in the world is rapidly moving towards renewable energy solutions ...
In my opinion thats's a sign ...

Yes I do agree with you on this. Renewable energy is the way to go as we do not know how long we will depend on natural gas and coal. Renewable energy will help in management of environmental pollution and might help in making our world a better place to live.
Thanks for pointing this out, my primary site is info driven and spiritual based, but I am considering a second site that would be more product based. This is something I could at least apply my secular educational credentials to, and also still feel like I was making a difference in the world.
Thank you for this. My niche, much to broad, is the impacts of climate change and how to adapt to the inevitable changes we will face in the future.
I've been trying to figure out how to monetize that niche. You have put me on the right track.

Absolutely, the renewable energy such as solar, wind, water... Is the future of our lovely planet.
Yes this niche still relatively virgin.
I did a multiples studies and researchs about the ROI ( return on investment) of those tree kind of energy.
I think It's a niche that worth exploration.
